EMAP Humberside
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
EMAP Humberside is a local commercial digital radio multiplex in the United Kingdom, which serves the Humberside area. EMAP Humberside is transmitted on frequency block 11B from the Bevan Flats (Grimsby), Buckton Barn and Cave Wold transmitters.
Originally, the High Hunsley transmitter was going to be used instead of Cave Wold (a BT microwave transmitter) when the licence was awarded in December 2000. EMAP was the only bidder - EMAP is the owner of Viking FM. The multiplex started in November 2001. There is a competing DAB multiplex - MXR Yorkshire which broadcasts national DAB stations from the Belmont transmitter. When adoption of DAB radios in the local area reached 31%, a new transmitter was to be put on Trent View Flats in Scunthorpe, but this never happened.
