On the diagram it shows that UV radiation does not come through the earths atmosphere, this is partly incorrect as UV radiation is the cause of skin tanning and burning, so some UV radiation must be coming through? Very little UV comes through the atmosphere, due to the ozone layer filtering it. Without this filter, UV would quickly break down many plastics, as well as killing a large portion of all life, including all exposed bacteria, and severely burn all other organic matter, hence the concern about the ozone layer.
