[edit] Re: Requesting your assistance
That sounds like a great idea. m:Help:Template and m:Help:Advanced templates serve as reference manuals on templates, and there's even a requested templates page. Now, if you feel energetic, reading through those reference pages and taking a look at the edit mode of Template:Infobox River would help you create Template:Infobox lake, but I'd be more than happy to lend a hand if you'd like. :D Please let me know what you think. Regards, Sango123 17:04, 11 June 2006 (UTC)
P.S. It's completely up to you, but I'd be deeply grateful if you gave a bit of credit for your userpage design somewhere. :) Thanks!
- Just list it in the geography section of Wikipedia:Infobox templates, use it in some lake articles (as you've been doing), and maybe even find a WikiProject that could benefit from your new template. :) And thanks muchly for the addition to your userpage, though I hope you don't mind this minor correction. :D
- As for the CSS, I've never tried anything beyond templates, but maybe the folks over at this new CSS WikiProject could help. Well, I'm off to make some tweaks to the lovely infobox. :) Regards, Sango123 20:22, 12 June 2006 (UTC)

- Heh... I didn't exactly change the template, just did some formatting on the instructions. :D And many thanks for that shiny new barnstar! Which reminds me, here's something for you. If there's anything I can do for WikiProject Lakes, be sure to tell me! Regards, Sango123 18:10, 13 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Lake Winnipeg
I saw your edit to the Lake Winnipeg article, good work! There are a few things you could improve upon. When linking to external links, do not use the "|" character to seperate the URL from the name, just a single space (otherwise the | becomes part of the URL and screws it up). Coordinates can be made automagically clickable (for easy viewing in Google Maps or others) using a coor template. For example for a coordinate given in degrees and minutes you might put {{coor dm|52|7|N|97|15|W}}, which produces . If you wanted to use degrees, minutes, and seconds you can use "coor dms", and there are others too. Happy editing. Qutezuce 06:25, 13 June 2006 (UTC)
- I also noticed when wikifying your coordinates that some of them are off, the Wabamun lake coordinates pointed to Pigeon Lake, for example. The Lake of the Woods coordinates were out in the ocean somewhere, that one must have been a typo :). Qutezuce 06:36, 13 June 2006 (UTC)
Google Maps is very helpful with coordinates stuff. Regarding Template:Lake, you may want to move that to something a bit more specific, like Template:Lakes project. Qutezuce 06:42, 13 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Your edits to Great Salt Lake
I just wanted to say thanks for your edits to Great Salt Lake, especially the changes to image layout which I had considered, but never bothered figuring out how to do. I look forward to working with you in WP:LAKES. --Lethargy 17:50, 18 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Good job!
- Thanks, Brian! I really appreciate the vote of confidence :D. I will see what other info I can dig up on the Lake Nyos (among others). Em3rald 01:38, 21 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Lakes Project
Thank you for invitation. I will be very happy to help. If there will be anything needing my attention, just let me know ;). I think Wikipedia is slightly biased against, let's say, poorest countries, so I have created in the past some articles about lakes in Madagascar, DR Congo, Mali etc. At this time I am occupied by Football World Cup but I will look at some new lakes right after. Take care. - Darwinek 10:59, 21 June 2006 (UTC)
- Hope you'll read this in the morning :). What you mean by cleaning up categorization scheme for lakes? I categorize articles almost two years, "country-lakes" categorization is good I think, I mean "Lakes of France", "Lakes of Alberta" etc. On the other hand, category Cat:Endorheic lakes is very unpopulated. I am also an admin, so deleting or moving some categories won't be a problem. - Darwinek 12:26, 21 June 2006 (UTC)
- I saw you already categorized some articles, wrongly :). This is how we do it: one of the basic rules of categorization is "subcategorization". When some article is under "Lakes of Alberta", there is no need to categorize it on the higher level. This is how we categorize an article: when some article is named for example "Lake Tahoe", [[Category:Lakes of California|Tahoe]]. This is for indexing purposes. Always put name of the lake after the "|", don't put there word "lake" (indexing purposes). Also I saw you created "Mountain Lakes" category, wrong again :). It should be "Mountain lakes", I have already changed it. Also this category is maybe problematic in definition. Consider all lakes located up the 1000 m above sea level as "mountain lakes"? If you would want to create another categories, let me know. - Darwinek 13:22, 21 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] lake man
hi mate! cool man cheers for the message. Yes I have two weeks leave from work and I haven't booked a holiday. My parents are away in Alaska!! so I'm not up to much. So I thought I would help out . I must have created about 1000 new articles by now!!!! Yeah I thought I would create a personal profile to other users who see my edits know more about me and who I am. I don't get what you mean about a sub-page though. I would like it in a box or something and then details of my better edits?? How long would this take? Could you do it? I would be willing to create new articles on lakes in Manitoba and the Yukon later to help the lake thing out. They are not all that well covered yet on wiki. adios and thanks for the time, Jamie. James Janderson 10:25, 6 July 2006 (UTC)
hello man from alberta, tired? I have started a number of new articles on Manitoba lakes and will cover them all later but I can't download any photos from the net. Could you see if you could dig out a photo or something for one of them such as Kississing and Kapahigan Lake? Most of them are fishermen on the lake. Also check out my new articles Ramoche Temple, Tibetology, Shalu Monastery and the : Namgyal Institute of Tibetology. They look good don't they!! I nabbed the photos from the Wikipedia Commons!! Take care James Janderson 14:02, 6 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Lake Balkhash
Thanks for noticing our project and bringing this to our attention! I put a template on it Template:WikiProject Central Asia to add it to our list, and hopefully someone will get to it soon. Feel free to add that template to other articles you see that might need it! Aelfthrytha 03:06, 7 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Testing my own little box
Em3rald 05:29, 7 July 2006 (UTC) | Testing my comments box | ||||||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
I am workning on creating a comments box for my own talk page; others are welcome to use my design if, and I reserve no copyright of any sort. When it is totally complete, I will likely add a noinclude with information about the public license. If it is working correctly, one should be able to nest them inside eachother, which might make my page look pretty cool. When I am done typing this, I am going to attempt to nest the templates.
However, I want to see how paragraphs are handled, hence this paragraph. And I will also test paragraphs with additional whitespace.

[edit] Great Salt Lake help
As I mentioned here, I'm looking for input on how to improve the Great Salt Lake article. As you have contributed fantastic input to articles in the past, and have personally improved this one, I wonder if you could drop by and give it a peer review? I'm looking for any input I can get. Just post it on Talk:Great Salt Lake or my talk page. Thank you. --Lethargy 21:20, 11 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Good to see you again
I'm not sure there is such a thing as "neglecting Wikipedia," but it is good to see you back. :) Be as harsh as you need or want to be with the Great Salt Lake article, I can take it, and I am essentially the main contributor. The peer review request hasn't received any responses, so I'm glad of any input I can get.
BTW, you might also want to look over Wikipedia:Version 0.5 Set Nominations/Lakes and seas, which was nominated a short while ago, to see if anything important is missing. --Lethargy 18:36, 7 September 2006 (UTC)
[edit] HMCS Prince David.
Sorry.... but things just got out of hand and I pretty well rewrote the whole page. I have several sources of reference of my own, the 1944 publication by Leacock and Roberts Canada's War at Sea for one and I found some good stuff in our library. You mentioned that your granddad spent a good part of the war aboard the David, as you can see there is only one photo from the LSI period, all my stuff is from 1941 to 1943. Do you have any photos from the LSI era? I have permission to use CN Steamships photos of the David, Henry and Robert, I'll up load them tonight. Speaking of the Henry and the Robert, I'm ready to start a page for each of them but I worry that their histories are too similar, especially in the early years. Three articles may be overkill. On the other hand, the Henry did see some action as did the Robert and Prince Robert's war was completely different to that of her sisterships after her conversion to AA Escort. Would it be to advantageous to make one big super article about all three? Elusive/Alberg22 01:18, 8 September 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks for your kind review of the PD page. We lost the old guy this Spring, so I guess that my work on the page was a bit of an elixir for me. I'm gathering info for the Prince Robert page and I agree with you as to the unwieldy nature of a combined article. For now I"ll use the same format as the PD page and try to find good PR photos. I have started a little page on the HMCS Suderoy, and her sisters, but the info is very scant and I don't know how far it can be taken. In fact it may get canned. [edit] Lake Evans
Hi, I made this a disambiguation page with links to other Lake Evans. Can we change it back? Cheers, :) Dlohcierekim 15:52, 4 November 2007 (UTC) \
No that was Evans lake. Sorry. Cheers, :) Dlohcierekim 15:54, 4 November 2007 (UTC)
