Elveden Forest
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Elveden Forest makes up a small area of Thetford Forest near the town of Brandon, Suffolk, England. It is east of the B1106 and is occupied by a Center Parcs Holiday village.
[edit] 2002 Fire
On April 4th 2002 a fire destroyed the plaza area of the village. Nobody was hurt, but the whole plaza was destroyed and many people had their breaks at the Village postponed. The damage to the forest was minimal and there have been continued attempts to fully restore nature in Elveden.
The Center Parcs village re-opened in July 2003 after a major re-design. The most dramatic difference was to the village square which was rebuilt with an open-air Mediterranean theme. The subtropical swimming paradise and Aqua Sana changed to a Balinese theme, and a new Sports Plaza opened.
[edit] Accommodation
Elveden Forest has a total of 866 units of accommodation which range from Comfort to exclusive villas and include rooms at the Lakeview Hotel. These villas and rooms can currently accommodate a total of 4216 guests per break. Villas are located in six different areas with each area mostly including every type of accommodation, but the Ash and Oak areas are predominantly made up of executive and exclusive villas. Ash was extended in 2007 to include new four bedroom, two storey villas.
[edit] 2007/8 Redevelopments
After Center Parcs was acquired by the Blackstone Group, they made major changes to the facilities at Elveden Forest. In 2007 34 new four bed villas were constructed which each included games rooms, balconies and newly styled interiors, and many other refurbishments were made to the accommodation and retail elements of the village.
