[edit] Welcome, Eltouch!

Hello Eltouch, welcome to Wikipedia! I hope you like it here and stick around. If you want, you can drop us a note at Wikipedia:New user log to introduce yourself.

Before you start doing a lot of editing, you might want to take the Tutorial. It gives a lot of basic info you'll want to get you oriented on Wikipedia, and comes highly recommended.

Here're some handy links:

  • Help:Contents is the list of all of the information you need to use Wikipedia. Wikipedia's Help desk is the best place to ask questions to which you can't find the answers. Also, a lot more good information is at Meta, which is often more up-to-date (as Meta is where information that pertains to all of the different Wikimedia projects, such as editing help, is stored and modified). Meta's Help section is located at m:Help:Contents, and more information about it can be found at Wikipedia:Meta and m:Meta:About.
  • Wikipedia:How to edit a page gives editing help. Whenever you're editing a page, there'll be a link to it below the editing box and to the right of the "Save page" and "Preview" buttons, for easier access.
  • Wikipedia:Manual of Style gives formatting information.
  • Wikipedia:Policies and guidelines tell about the principles we operate on. It's important, but you don't need to read it all at once. Our five most important tenets are listed under Wikipedia:Five pillars, and there's an easier-to-read version of Wikipedia:Policies and guidelines at Wikipedia:Simplified Ruleset. Our privacy policy is at Wikipedia:Privacy policy.
  • Wikipedia:Show preview explains how to double-check your edits before saving, an important feature. This allows you to see how edits you have made will look once you save the page and give you an opportunity to correct mistakes before submitting your changes.

Remember to sign your name on talk pages by typing " ~~~ " for your username and " ~~~~ " for your username and a timestamp (which is generally preferred). The software will automatically convert this upon saving the page.

If you have any questions, please ask me on my talk page. I'll answer if I'm here. If you like, you can ask here, on your own talk page (for your own easier reference), but please let me know by posting a note on my talk page saying that you've replied.

Take care, and good wiki-ing, Blackcap (talk) 23:37, 9 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Ranjith Joy

Hello, Ranjith. I've moved the page to the proper name, so that's all fixed now.

I won't remove the notice, because I don't think that this page belongs in Wikipedia (see my message above to Dynamo ace for my reasons why). You're more than welcome to put your thoughts as to why this page shouldn't be deleted on the Article for deletion page (which is located here), but please first familiarize yourself with our deletion policies, which you can read at Wikipedia:Deletion policy and related pages. Specifically, please look at the links I provided above in my message to Dynamo. Notice that you can certainly userfy this information (meaning making it your userpage) as it's your biography, but I don't think that this article is right for being in Wikipedia article. Don't be discouraged, though, it's a fine start and you'll get the hang of editing here in no time. Happy wiki-ing, Blackcap (talk) 01:32, 10 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] hi

I read all your messages. Thanks for changing the name. If you feel its not worth keeping in the site. I would suggest you to take it out, as its a embarassing to me having the deletion message.

I should say that if Greg has his name here. Mine would be here more number of times than his. And if its because your being racist. I cant help it. Anyway good job buddy.

Thanks RJyou are

Um... I'm not sure who Greg is or why you think that I may be doing this because I'm racist. Anyway, you're welcome for the name change. Also, please note that I don't have the ablility to delete articles myself (none of use do, except in the situations underlined in Wikipedia:Criteria for speedy deletion). What will happen is that whether or not the article should be kept will be discussed, and then we'll follow the consensus. If you find it embarassing, then, as the sole author, you can request for it to be deleted by placing {{db|[[WP:CSD]] G7: I am the sole author and request for this to be deleted. ~~~~}} on the article's page, above the deletion notice. Hope that helps, Blackcap (talk) 05:44, 10 December 2005 (UTC)

Re:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greg_Martin this is Gregs page. Can you tell me the difference between his page and mine? Why isnt his page in the deletion list. What is problem with my article. If you could tell me i could fix it rather than deleting my page.

thanks Rj

Well, after looking at Greg Martin's page for the first time and doing some very brief research, it appears that Greg Martin seems to be significantly better known and therefore worthy of note in an encyclopedia then Ranjith Joy. For example, Greg Martin gets 195,000 unique Google hits, which is more than enough information to show that he is known and encyclopedic, while Ranjith Joy gets 223, not very many for someone whose chosen medium is computer based. (Note: I've discussed this here with User:Dynamo ace. I had meant to link to this in my previous edit, but botched the link: I'm going to go fix that after I post this). The problem is that your article does not appear to be of a person noteworthy enough to warrant inclusion in an encyclopedia. I'd highly recommend reading Wikipedia:Vanity guidelines which may explain some of your questions. Hope that helps, Blackcap (talk) (vandalfighters, take a look) 06:13, 10 December 2005 (UTC)

Re:

Hi bro I understand what you are saying and i see that i only have less hits on Google. Thanks for your explanation. Please search "EL Touch" and see if it will get in the Encycleopeida. It has around 15,000 Google Hits. Thanks RJ

O.K. The second thing that you ought to read about this topic it Wikipedia:Autobiography. In the words of Wikipedia's creator, Jimbo Wales, "It is a social faux pas to write about yourself" [1]. Here, it's generally inappropriate to write about yourself: the currently prevailing theory is that writing articles about yourself is likely to violate WP:NPOV and other standards. I should mention that your article certainly does this, and also violates WP:NOR. Yes, you are correct that EL Touch gets more hits, but there are some other concerns. Re:

Ok I agree is not nice to write about ourselfs. There are more than ten to fifteen articles about me and EL Touch, which had come in of digital magazines about me and I had been interviewed by some. Well as a matter of fact I know if i continue telling about it it will be self boasting or bragging about myself which I feel is unfair and against the rules of Wikipedia. Someone from the Digit (magazine) boards might put up an article about me very soon. Once again thanks for answering my Q's.

My pleasure. Take care, Blackcap (talk) (vandalfighters, take a look) 00:21, 12 December 2005 (UTC)
