"Els Segadors" (The Reapers) is the national anthem of Catalonia, an autonomous community within Spain. It has been an unofficial anthem of the Catalan people since the late 19th century, and the official one since 1993.
The song is based on the events of 1639 and 1640 when Catalans fought for independence against King Philip IV of Spain and his favourite, Olivares: the Guerra dels Segadors or Reapers' War.

- ^ The verb in the Catalan original—seguem—is from the same root as segadors; that is, they will cut the chains as they cut the crops.
