[edit] ISBNs

Hi Elric, please let me know which peer review. Hyphenation (or spaces) is the standard according to the International ISBN Agency, and we can't use spaces. Rich Farmbrough 08:27 30 August 2006 (GMT).

It was in this one. I seem to recall there being more discussion on it, but part of the discussion in that PR also disappeared somewhere along the way – my guess is that it was among that. Could your bot also stop being 'helpful' with categories? I am getting sick of reverting that three or four times a day. To get categories sorted alphabetically you often need to place them above templates, but your bot keeps moving them back to the bottom (which ends up giving me a mish-mashed order). Elric of Grans 23:04, 30 August 2006 (UTC)
Well it's done for now. I understand what your saying about categories, it raises two interesting points a. how should categories be ordered, and b. what to do about transcluded categories. The first has been thrashed out, and the conclusion reaced that alpahbetical order is not necessarily best (AWB used to order categories). The second is more probelmatical, I believe, for example that in general maintainance categories (and hence templates) should go after normal categories - and I thnk this is widely suported in principle. On the other hand it is common practice to put cleanup and wikify right at the top of articles. One off the things that AWB does in it's general options is to put interwiki at the end, and non-trancluded categories immediately before, so I will copy part of your comment and this reply onto the AWB talk page for discussion. [edit] Boogiepop Phantom

Hi, I've just started through the long haul of expanding this article. You seem to be pretty well versed on Boogiepop lore, and you've handled other Boogiepop articles (I also saw you on the gomanga forum). This is my first attempt at really starting an article from scratch, so I would appreciate the help of a more seasoned veteran such as yourself. Here's a list of some of the stuff I've done so far:

  • Padded out the links section
  • Padded out the allusions section
  • Started the plot "summary" with the section on Manaka Kisaragi.

However I must stress that I am poor(relatively) at writing, so this in itself could probably be heavily improved upon. Some things I would like to focus on in the article are:

  • Pictures for the main characters (anime pictures, not novel pictures in the case of Boogiepop, etc)
  • Continue with the plot "summary" starting the with the other main characters such as Manticor Phantom, Boogiepop Phantom, etc
  • Find more references and create a reception section

Let me know what you think and I would appreciate any help you could give. Thanks Hellspawn 23:39, 11 December 2006 (UTC)

We already have one anime picture in the Boogiepop series article that would serve well. Another picture of Boogiepop and/or Boogiepop Phantom along with one of Manaka (with Poom Poom?) and her Butterflies would also be good, but any more would probably be pushing it. I had been intending on changing the basic format of the article, to make it more like the other ones, but that is not an urgent concern; it may be something to keep in mind though, as many of those subjects should be addressed here. I would also not recommend splitting the plot into the plots of the main characters, as there would be too much overlap. It would make more sense to just write the plot summary for the series; this would also help people who failed to understand the plot because it has been so split up in the anime. Sadly, there are few good (English) sources for Boogiepop, but if you check the base article you will find some useful ones as a starting point --- especially for reception. Elric of Grans 22:40, 11 February 2007 (UTC)
Changed the plot summary to reflect the overall story rather than focusing on one character. I also added pictures for all the main characters (expect Miyashita san) (although all of the pictures are good, they aren't all the same size unfortunately). I also added a media section as suggested by the guidelines, and I plan to move onto the critical reception section next. Once I've done that, the article should hopefully only need some tidying up before it is deserving of a higher assessment. Hellspawn, 23:45 GW 16/02/07
Added a few more characters to the characters section. I don't think it's too long yet, since the Fate/Stay night article has a longer characters section but the article is GA. Also, my reasoning behind adding the "Other Important Characters" section is that these characters are important to the story of Boogiepop Phantom, but don't play any part in the present timeline, instead forming back story. In the case of Dr Kisugi, there is yet no article for that novel to explain the character so a semi-detailed character description is probably relevant here. I also modified some of the character entries to reflect the current timeline of Boogiepop Phantom and the slight alterations made to the plot of the novels. Apart from that, I think just More Murder should be added (picture impossible) and that will be the character section finished. What do you think?
No, it does not look too long to me either. I have no real objections to the expanded character section either, though ultimately it should be List of characters in the Boogiepop series article that gets the main character expansion. The character information in the media articles should be just the important information, while the character list is a little more in-depth; major characters should (and do) have their own articles for in-depth information. Personally I do not think Mo Murder needs to be in the Boogiepop Phantom article though; he is far too minor and insignificant to the plot. Boogiepop at Dawn, definitely, but not Boogiepop Phantom. Elric of Grans 10:07, 8 June 2007 (UTC)
I agree about keeping the information on the characters to a minimum in the Boogiepop Phantom article, it's just hard to determine what's important to mention or leave out. I think More Murder should be added for one important reason: no one will have a clue about the meaning behind the scene in episode 5 where Suema is shown the memory of Dr Kisugi having killed More Murder unless they know that More Murder was the one who was framed for the killings. Other reasons inlude his murder of Seiichi Kirima and Shinpei Kuroda, both of which are shown in the anime. Also, since there is no Boogiepop at Dawn article yet, the Boogiepop Phantom article may be the only Wikipedia source on him.
On another note, do you think perhaps that Shinpei Kuroda should have a separate section from Ichirou Kishida Phantom, even though they are technically the same person. Is a plot spoiler that big necessary in the character section?
Tell me what you think about adding these last characters - Seichii Kirima (his writings are pivotal to the story), More Murder (above), Hisashi Jonouchi (thematic as well as plot importance), Misuzu Arifuji (also thematic and more importantly summoned the Manticore Phantom), Sayoko and Mamoru Oikawa (source of Poom Poom, death of Snake Eye, and two of the three children taken by Boogiepop Phantom).
Characters that don't (yet) need to be added to article - Yoji Sugunama (no relevance to current plot, serves mostly as exposition on Manticore and Saotome), Shizue Wakasa (same as Yoji)
Something else that should perhaps be discussed: After noticing that some of the characters had their powers described, I started mentioning details of other characters powers, but I'm not sure what format this should take. Is this perhaps best?
Boogiepop (ブギーポップ Bugīpoppu?)
Seiyū: Kaori Shimizu, voice actor: Debora Rabbai
The shinigami whispered of among the female students of Shinyo Academy, few people know that Boogiepop actually exists. Boogiepop is an alternate personality of Touka Miyashita that is normally dormant, but rises to the surface when enemies of the world appear. Boogiepop's appearance and voice are ambiguous: they seem both masculine and feminine at the same time, although Boogiepop does use the masculine form when referring to itself. Hidden beneath his signature black cloak and black, pipe-shaped hat, little is ever seen of him. Straight-faced and to the point, Boogiepop acts as mechanical as he claims to be. Boogiepop speaks in an archaic manner, and seems fond of whistling Wagner's Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg.
Abilities: Vast strength, endurance, and speed, partial or complete omniscience, skill with knives and microfilament wire.

Hellspawn 22:30, 10 June 2007 (UTC)

There is no need for Mo Murder in the article. He is never named, hardly seen and has no relevance to the plot. If people really need/want to read about him, that is what the List of characters in the Boogiepop series article is for. Likewise, minor characters only present for an episode are not worth including as they are not important enough. Kirima Seiichi even moreso, as he is not even in it – his writings are frequently present, but it does not mean he deserves a section in every single Boogiepop article. I do not believe an explicit list of powers is relevant either. Major characters (eg Boogiepop) should have something like that incorporated in their own articles, while others (eg Snake Eye) should have their powers mentioned as a part of the prose. Lists within articles should be avoided, with prose being the preferred standard on Wikipedia. Also, it is quite obvious that Boogiepop is not omniscient, and I cannot remember him using knives. Elric of Grans 21:58, 13 June 2007 (UTC)
Okay then, More Murder and the like won't go in the article. In regards to the powers, I just thought it would be agood idea to standardize the format. But I will look at reincorporating them into the prose. Boogiepop/Boogiepop Phantom are at least partially omniscient - they know things that they shouldn't otherwise know, such as details about a person that they have never met. I could list them, but they are present in every Boogiepop story I've seen so far. They're not completely omniscient of course, but they are at least partially so. And Boogiepop uses knives in Boogiepop VS Imaginator Part 2 to cut through handcuffs and restraints with a single swipe.

[edit] Unspecified source for Image:Fancy_Lala.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Fancy_Lala.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 09:45, 3 July 2007 (UTC). [edit] VS Imaginator 2

Looks like you haven't been around much recently, but it would be nice to get the third novel article up to at least a Start status before the new books start coming out. Anything I can do to help? Doceirias 19:43, 14 August 2007 (UTC)

I was also about to start on that article, though I have been kept busy by my efforts on Boogiepop Phantom. But I should be able to get to work on that article tomorrow at some point. I have the book with me, and I know where to get a load of reviews. The only thing I don't have are the character pictures, if anyone wanted to help with that. Hellspawn 21:28, 14 August 2007 (UTC)
I have been waiting for my copy of this book to arrive all this time; for whatever reason, that was the only book I was unable to source locally, so I had to mess around with importing it. I expect it to arrive in the next week or two, at which point I shall finally be able to get stuck into the article. I had originally hoped to do it within a month of the release date ;) Elric of Grans 09:58, 15 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned non-free media (Image:Boogiepopanime character protagonists.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Boogiepopanime character protagonists.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. [edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Boogiepop.jpg

Image:Boogiepop.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
