[edit] Lithuanian place names

Hi Elnuko, you appear to have an interest in the geography on Lithuania. Do you think you will be expanding on more of these articles? As you will have noticed, a large part of Orthodox Judaism has strong roots in Lithuania, and there are quite a few articles on rabbis from Lithuania who have been influential in the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries.

Often, Jewish sources use Polish or Yiddish names for Lithuanian places. I try to always find the matching Lithuanian name, but this is not always easy. What is the name of the Kaunas suburb known in Polish as Slabodka? Is it just Vilijampole?

Please don't routinely replace place names with their present-day equivalents. Vilnius was called Wilna/Vilna during a large part of its history, and nobody knows the Vilna Gaon as "Vilnius Gaon". JFW | T@lk 22:54, 27 July 2005 (UTC)

Vilnius was never called oficially Wilno or Vilna. These are polish and belorussian names, but not english and of course not lithuanian. All through history there were periods of different ocupations/denationalisations. Problem is that Lithuanian cities became known during these periods. I've read a lot about Gdansk/Danzig conflict - strangly there was approach choosen to use polish names instead of german. In similar situation here - true local lithuanian names are changed into polish (i.e. oposite).

If you've read the Gdansk/Danzig dispute, you'll find out that it was chosen to use German name in historical context. --Lysy (talk) 17:50, 28 July 2005 (UTC)
Of course, this consensus might have been reached elsewhere. If so, please, give me the link to the discussion which resulted in the conclusion you mentioned (on Emilia Plater talk page). Many people would be happy to see it. Alx-pl D 00:29, 19 September 2005 (UTC)

Labas.

Be to, lentoje galia prašyti kitų narių pagalbos ir patarimų įvairiais su Vikipedija susijusiais klausimais.

Sėkmės, DeirYassin 17:33, 14 February 2006 (UTC)

--- Whatever!! - Do some fact checking and you will see that everything is true and accurate. Your the one who is continually trying to distort the work being done.

There's lots of pages here that I don't find relevent - but others do. If you lived in Canada or even North America you would understand the significance of this company.

Thanks.

I like your: Mountain Hardwear page - Part of the cultural and history of the country?

So why dont you nominate it for AfD yourself? I can do it for you, if you think this is needed (btw, yes I think this article should be (and will be) also nominated) eLNuko 11:10, 19 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Sausio 13

Saunu! Renata 15:32, 20 February 2006 (UTC)

Pirmyn! Siaip visa History of Lithuania beveviltiskai reikalinga demesio ir meiles :) Tik gal siulau neapsiroboti viena diena, bet paimti didesni laikotarpi, tipo Lithuanian independence of 1918 ar pan kaip Lithuanian 1941 independence. Renata 16:45, 20 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Beer cats & kittens

It has been suggested by User:BrianSmithson and supported by User:Syrthiss that the Beer and brewery categories should be renamed. This proposal has been supported and expanded by myself. The notion is that the regional categories should follow the format of "Beer and breweries in Africa" /Europe/Asia/North America/South America/Oceania. "Brewers and breweries" could also be renamed "Beer and breweries by region". And all the countries should also be renamed (and merged if needed) as, for example, "Beer and breweries of Germany", "Beer and breweries of Britain", "Beer and breweries of Poland". The word in each case would be beer rather than beers to allow for general articles on beer culture in each region as well as individual beers.

[edit] patrol scipts.js

Is there any way to keep User:Elnuko/patrol scipts.js from showing up in Category:Wikipedia cleanup? -- Beland 17:58, 22 July 2006 (UTC)

Yes, sure. Thanks for noticing. eLNuko 18:23, 22 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Talk:Jogaila

Hi there. Despite a whopping victory for the name Jogaila on the previous vote, the Polish users have got upset and called yet another vote. They want to get it moved back to the old unpopular name Władysław II Jagiełło. If you are interested in stopping this, you'll need to cast your vote again. Sorry for all this tediousness. Regards, Calgacus (ΚΑΛΓΑΚΟΣ) 03:48, 27 July 2006 (UTC)

Take note that the "whooping victory" was in fact a 16:16 parity. Despite that the article was moved anyway, in violation of wiki rules and procedures. Now is the chance to repair that. Besides, Calgacus is also lying about the name - the one we propose to move it to is Wladyslaw II Jagiello, without diacritics. And that name is at least 10 times more popular with English scientific literature than Jogaila. //Halibutt 08:59, 25 October 2006 (UTC)
Erm, Halibutt, that was from July. You should read the dates before foaming off in future. ;) Calgacus (ΚΑΛΓΑΚΟΣ) 14:58, 29 October 2006 (UTC)

Hey. Hallibut and all are again campaigning to get Jogaila moved to a Polish name. Since I noticed you've previously taken an interest, I'm posting this so you don't miss the vote. Just so you know, there is a vote at Talk:Jogaila. Regards, Calgacus (ΚΑΛΓΑΚΟΣ) 14:56, 29 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Vandalism?

User 81.136.19.75 has been continually changing your user page. Is this you not logged in or is this vandalism? -Mschel 15:03, 6 March 2007 (UTC)

This is vandalism of religious fanatic. I'm administrator of Lithuanian Wiki and we are constantly fighting with him there. After he is blocked from editing, he starts vandalizing user pages of admins in other languages. Anyway - thanks for support. eLNuko 15:08, 6 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Annotated Bibliography of Fly Fishing Nominated For Deletion

Fishing Project Member: I'd like to bring to your attention that the article Annotated Bibliography of Fly Fishing has been nominated for deletion. I believe this article is useful and should stay a part of Wikipedia. There are literally dozens of bibliographies in Wikipedia and I see no reason this particular one should be deleted. As a member of the fishing project I would hope you do as well. Please weigh in on the debate at: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Annotated Bibliography of Fly Fishing Thanks: --Mike Cline (talk) 13:03, 7 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned non-free media (Image:Svyturys.gif)

Thanks for uploading Image:Svyturys.gif. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 09:43, 22 January 2008 (UTC)
