Elmer Bendiner

Elmer Bendiner (1916-2001) was a notable American writer and journalist. He married his wife Esther in 1941 and served as a B-17 Flying Fortress navigator in World War II. Among his better-known works are The Rise and Fall of Paradise (a history of al-Andalus, A Time for Angels: A Tragicomic History of the League of Nations, The Bowry Man, The Virgin Diplomats, Biographical dictionary of medicine (co-written with his daughter Jessica, and The Fall of Fortresses: A Personal Account of One of the Most Daring - and Deadly - Air Battles of the Second World War.
