Elkins High School (Texas)

Lawrence E. Elkins High School is a secondary school in Missouri City, Texas—serving communities in Sugar Land and Missouri City.

The school, which handles grades 9 through 12, is a part of the Fort Bend Independent School District. Elkins was established in 1992, with its first graduating class in 1995.

Elkins received a Blue Ribbon Award from the United States Department of Education in 2002[1].

Lawrence E. Elkins High School was established as a grade 9 and 10 school in fall 1992 [1] to alleviate overcrowding from three other district high schools, Dulles, Clements, and Willowridge.

In Spring 2007, FBISD released the results of a survey by students [2]. At Elkins, according to the survey, 11.3% of students felt unsafe in classrooms, 18.7% felt unsafe in the hallways, 20.4% felt unsafe in the restrooms, 24.1% felt unsafe on school buses, and 23.6% felt unsafe in parking lots.

In the 500 yard Freestyle event, Colleen swam to a new state record with a 4:45.67 effort. With her two wins and state record performance Gordon also was named the State Female Swimmer of the Year.
