Welcome!

Hello, Eliyahu S, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or place {{helpme}} on your talk page and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Again, welcome!  Mak (talk) 04:56, 30 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Baby Sign Response

Thanks for your inquiry. Yes, my son was born 3 weeks ago. However since he still has limited vision, and very little fine motor control, we haven't started using signs with him yet. I believe most things I've read recommend starting around 4-6 months... --Maelwys 14:22, 28 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Vandalism help

I'm happy to help squelch nonsense on Wikipedia.  :) However, I am not an administrator and cannot ban this vandal. (And I should mention that s/he has not yet done anything to warrant a ban, but I imagine that'll change within the next fifteen minutes.) I put more warning tags on his/her talk space. When you next come up against vandalism (and you will), you can revert the changes as you did and then put warning templates on the offender's talk page. WP:VANDAL is a good place to get an overview on the different types of vandalism and the appropriate warnings, and I keep these talk page templates bookmarked so I can easily copy and paste the appropriate message. Just remember to put "subst:" before the template when posting on someone's talk page. (So instead of {{test2}} you put {{subst:test2}}. If the vandalism persists after frequent (and final) warnings, you can leave a message on the Administrator intervention against vandalism page. I'll keep an eye on this user, though. Happy editing! -- Merope 20:22, 29 August 2006 (UTC)

I'm very happy to have helped! And thanks for the multilingual thanks--I adore other languages! -- Merope 20:34, 29 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Response to your comment

Wow, I didn't think anyone even read my userpage, let alone noticed changes! I took out that bit because I de-stubbed an article about an obscure ancient Jewish royal, Mariamne, which hits on two of my fields of study. I've also done tweaks to a couple of articles about feminist philosophers, so it seemed disingenous to leave in. Besides, I'm trying to work more on adding good content to WP instead of just reverting and removing bad content, so I thought I'd take it out.

How's the vandal-fighting going?  :) -- Merope Talk 19:55, 19 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Flattery

Aw! Well, though I do like you, I stole the sup talk bit from someone else. I've also modified my sig about 30 times in the past week. (Here are some former versions.) I like when users have a link to their talk page in their sig, since I'm a chatty-type person. And I love messages from other users, so anything to encourage that is a-okay! -- Merope Talk 22:55, 19 September 2006 (UTC)

Nice! I should have realized that Mariamne came from the Hebrew for Miriam. As for putting in a subsection, the WP Manual of Style dictates that there should be a lead paragraph. Since the article is about two different women, the etymology of the name seems as good as anything for a lead. -- Merope Talk 23:24, 19 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Mozart vandal :)

I noticed the similarity. I have already blocked 84.16.40.178 [1] and left a warning on 219.190.100.71's page. The latter seems to have stopped after that. But have no fear, I have the page watchlisted. Do call me if you catch the vandal. - Aksi_great (talk) 13:04, 6 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Map of Israel

Yeah, I'm sorry, I only edit war when I'm in a bad mood. :-( Usually I make comments on the talk page, but not recently. Ciao, Khoikhoi 16:25, 5 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Grammar

Thanks for catching my grammar at Epimetheus (moon) after my sentence structure change. As a token of this, here is some pizza! ScouterSig 23:17, 18 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] American Eagle Motorcycles

I do not believe that it IS a POV. I put on that template after looking at the Wikipedia:Spam page under Advertisements masquerading as articles.

Here it says, "When an article on an otherwise encyclopedic topic has the tone of an advertisement, the article can often be salvaged by rewriting it in a neutral point of view."

Since I do not have knowledge on the subject I put the NPOV template up. If it wasn't for the mention in the Evel Knievel article I would not have removed the speedy deletion mention. It reads like an advertisement.

There is probably a better template that I could have put up. If you can suggest one then please do, for future reference.

I hope this was "a more coherent response" as to why I put up the notice. --Murder1 14:13, 7 January 2007 (UTC)

I will remove the NPOV template because I have found the appropriate template. I am quite new to editing so I am sorry for inconveniencing you. I will remove the new template, or you may do so, when you finish your stub. I was hasty with putting up the notices and should have waited until you had finished and for that I am sorry. --Murder1 14:39, 7 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Wahabisim

Why would you consider adding the term cult instead of movement vandalism. I am a student of history and Wahabism fits the defination of cult and therefore the addition was not vandalism. It is factually correct, all you have to do is look up the defination of a cult.

Its members believe is suicide bombs and killing everyone who does not believe in their form of religion. There is no difference between them and David Koresh in the United States, he also had a movement but was considered a cult by the mainstream

Thanks for your advise but this was not vandalism

[edit] Article Islamic Cults and Aga Khani AfDs - please review!

Hi Eliyahu S. User:Trueblood786 recently created the article Islamic Cults which lists a number of communities and labels them all cults without any justification or verifiable sources. I would appreciate if you could look at the article and provide your comments on the Articles for deletion page.

Around the same time, he created Aga Khani which (it appears) he then proceeded to vandalise using 75.15.204.215 (talkcontribsdeleted contribsWHOISRDNStraceRBLshttpblock userblock log) as a sock puppet (I noticed you reverted this - thanks!). This article has also been nominated for deletion - please review and comment here. Kind regards -- Aylahs (talk) 14:33, 9 January 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for your message. I know the swamped feeling well - I have some real life catchup to do myself. Kind regards -- Aylahs (talk) 02:15, 14 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Discussion

I would welcome your comments on the articles Aga Khani and Islamic Cults.

Do you really believe that the Nation of Islam is not an Islamic cult under the defination of a cult or that Qadianis or Aga Khanis are not cults? To put all the cults or if you prefer sects of Islam in one article seems to me to be a more efficeint than to search out each one. With the links to the main articles users can than determine themselves.

[edit] Islamic Cults

Thanks for your reply. I am looking forward to discussing this issue with you. . —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Trueblood786 (talkcontribs) 05:24, 14 January 2007 (UTC).

[edit] Islamic Cults

I guess the Islamic Cult in Iraq was not really a cult eventhough the news is listing them as a cult, but an Islamic Sect as you and others insisted on the site i created for Islamic Cults.

People can live with their heads under the sand but the facts come out themselves.

[edit] Ummm..no

i.e. is an abbreviation, and one you correctly punctuated, but it stands for the Latin "id est," meaning "that is..." not "ipso est," which would mean something like, "It is by means of itself.'HarvardOxon 16:29, 25 March 2007 (UTC)
