I'm a resident of Istanbul, Turkey Berkeley, California (I'm undecided on this point). I'm working on a PhD dissertation in ethnomusicology as a student of the University of California, Berkeley, which is about recording studios in Istanbul. On the side, I perform, record, and teach the Anatolian instrument known as the oud.
My research specialties include Ottoman classical music, Turkish folk music, popular and ethnic music styles, Turkish folk music instruments, recording studios, and the crossover between the avant garde musique concrète and electronica aesthetics.
