[edit] Neutral Point of View?

Is this article neutral? The fact that I even have to question this makes me feel like it's not. This is a problem.

What do you mean?????? Jane 26 December, 2006
I got the same feeling about its lack of neutrality. It's a glowing review of how wonderful Elijah is, not a neutral article describing him.
Of course, I agree that Elijah is wonderful, so it doesn't bother me too much, but a few of the statements should at least cite sources. I put "citation needed" next to this statement:
Also in 1994, [Elijah] had the title role in North, a film remarkable for the volume of bad reviews and bad box office that it received, but also for the fact that practically every bad review contained a positive assessment of Wood's performance.
Someone needs to explain what exactly they mean by "practically every review". I'm sure he did a good job, but I'm suspicious of that statement. Not a big deal though. Elijah IS awesome. :) Maurajbo (talk) 02:15, 27 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Elijah iTunes Music Picks of 2005

Link from the above doesn't work. Anyone have another link?

[edit] Unsourced statements

Please supply sources when adding to the trivia section. I have removed lots, and only the two which cited have remained. IolakanaT 14:47, 9 September 2006 (UTC)

The article states that Mr Wood 'has studied music professionally'. Where, when and what instrument? I am not aware of his having any musical qualifications other than a love of the medium.

I have to agree that the "studied music professionally" sounds suspect. I know he had piano as a child, and a bit of voice training in recent years, but I don't think either count as "professionally." Is there documentation to the contrary? Roundthebend

[edit] Lord of the Rings audition video ?

I heard on one of the LORT DVDs, somewhere in the commentary by Peter Jackson, that Elijah Wood originally got the part because he sent in an audition video he made with some friends - is that video still around anywhere? It'd be funny to see, and if it's online, this article should link to it.

Celebopedia says, "Elijah Wood heard about the Lord of the Rings trilogy while filming The Faculty (1998). Immediately, he sensed that this was the chance of a lifetime. Director George Huang, a personal friend of Wood's, filmed his audition tape for the Lord of the Rings trilogy. He shot the scene from different angles which were cut together for the video. They sent the video off to New Zealand for director Peter Jackson and a few months later, he got the part."

The Wikipedia article George Huang (director) mentions, "George shot Elijah Wood's audition tape that landed him the role of Frodo Baggins in The Lord of the Rings film trilogy."

[edit] About audition video

Hey you,

Elijah don't believe this video can be found in internet. Elijah don't give permission for to divulge this video.

Liz 04: 22 October 11, 2006.

[edit] The Audition Tape

Unfortunately, the audition video tape is the property of New Line and is not available for viewing, although Elijah Wood is quite proud of it. It was the one element that secured his role as Frodo Baggins. However, snippets of the video can be seen on the Fellowship of the Ring (FOTR EE) Extended Edition in the DVD features section about the casting. I do not believe Elijah Wood has control over the rights to this video. edwpat http://www.dancaster.com/ejw

Hey, I heard that Elijah has the control of the rights of the video, and he didn't gave permission to divulge it. But i'm not sure about this bacause many informations from internet aren't true. Liz
No, audition tapes belong to the production company and this one belongs to New Line. But even if it were Elijah's II'm sure he has a copy), he would most likely not have a problem with divulging its content. He was reading Tolkien in the Hollywood Hills wearing a rented custome. He has spoken many times about this video, as has Peter Jackson and other writers and cast members. It is a point of historic pride. edwpat http://www.dancaster.com/ejw
Ok, thank's for info! Liz

[edit] Recent Changes

I've changed some things in Elijah's article, like "Upcoming projects", "Movies in production" or "Previous collaborations".

[edit] About external links

I'd like to know who removed the link in "External links" section and why? I don't have Elijah fansite, but I am just curious. Liz Octorber 16

Liz, the external links were vaporized by several Wikipedians (Langoliers) and when I tried to restore mine (not a fansite either, but I was told it expressed creativity and thus was a no no), I was threatened with Wikipedian expulsion and oblivion. I gave up. This site belongs to the oligarchy and therein lies its chief flaw and downfall. It is what it is. user:edwpat:edwpat http://www.dancaster.com/ejw
This is sad :-( Liz

[edit] Roman Catholic category

Who added Wood to [[Category:Roman Catholic entertainers]]? Is there a citation for this? It's not mentioned anywhere else in the article. --Jrothwell (talk) 14:20, 22 October 2006 (UTC)

Elijah has stated he is Roman Catholic, although he is quick to add that he's "Catholic Lite." edwpat

[edit] Latest changes

I really liked the latest changes in Elijah's article. Great job!!! Liz

[edit] Video clips

Elijah has directed a video clip for the band Apples in Stereo. This video should be add in "Video clips" section. I don't the name of the vídeo. Does someone know? Jane

[edit] Young Star Awards

How many times Elijah was nominated for Young Star Awards? Five times or four times??? And how many times he won? Once or twice?

Making his film debut with a minor part in Back to the Future II (1989), Wood landed a succession of subsequent larger roles, and became a critically acclaimed child actor. His performance in The War gained him a nomination for a 'Young Star Award' (for which he was nominated five times, and won once), and Roger Ebert said in his review of the film that Elijah Wood has emerged, I believe, as the most talented actor in his age group, in Hollywood history.

Awards and nominations section:

Young Star Awards

  • 1995 Nominate Best Performance by a Young Actor in a Drama Film The War 1994
  • 1997 Nominated Best Performance by a Young Actor in a Comedy Film Flipper 1996
  • 1998 Won Best Performance by a Young Actor in a Drama Film Deep Impact 1998
  • 1998 Won Best Performance by a Young in a Miniseries/Made for TV Movies Oliver Twist 1997

I'm confused :) Jane 26 December, 2006

[edit] Lord of the Ring Before and After

I'm not too sure whether it is appropriate in Elijah's case to define things as during and after LOTR??? Discussion please. I know, he wouldn;t appreciate it, but within the context of the article it relegates most of his adult acting in relation to the trilogy. A bit biased. What is the thinking here, before I revert it back - someone talk me out of it or support the reversion. Thanks Ed Patterson http://www.dancaster.com/ejw edwpat

[edit] Music Executive

The label "music executive" has stood on Wikipedia for 8 months now (not my assertion); however when it was taken off recently, I did take humbrage; however, after checking, Elijah does not accede to this title, in fact, he finds it amusing - so I concede to his wishes. LIJPolice. edwpat

I agree! Jane-21

Thanks Jane. Ed Patterson http://www.dancaster.com/ejw edwpat

[edit] Filmography

The dates which his movies had been released are incorrect. Happy Feet was not released in 2005, as well as Sin City was not released in 2004. Almost all the dates are incorrect. Jane-21

That was probably my fault, because when the Wiki-Police tagged the filmography as ersazt because it was presented in ascending order, I undertook to reverse the order (which was a bit hair-raising). I inadvertantly mismatched some of the "Year" rows. I hope they're correct now. I will double check later. Ed Patterson LIJPolice. edwpat

Okay! I finished the correction!!! :)Jane-21

Thanks Jane-21 edwpat.

BTW Jane, did you see the little gift I received from the set of The Oxford Murders? http://www.dancaster.com/popgift.htm edwpat

Wow!!! Great!!!! Congratulations Ed! Jane-21

[edit] About this trivia

To Edwpat.

He's learning to sing professionally, He collects Star Wars stuff, He said,"If he wasn't an actor, he'd want to be a secret agent!", He sometimes wears glasses He LOVES the book The Hobbit - the book which JRR Tolkien wrote before the Lord of the Rings trilogy, Elijah says he's a "hopeless romantic" , He smokes - a bad habit he picked up from his The Faculty co-star Josh Hartnett, His fave actors are Tim Roth and Emma Thompson, [1]

This trivia is old.i know.but this is true. Everyone has the right to write this. What authority do you have?

You said that this information was old. but this information is true.

This information is both OLD and no longer TRUE and really has no place on Wikipedia. LIJPatrol edwpat http://www.dancaster.com/ejw Elijah Wood: Performer for Our Time

[edit] Elijah's musical training

The "personal life" section now says that "he's learning to sing professionally." I remember that he mentioned having some voice training back when he auditioned for "Moulin Rouge," but does that really count as "learning to sing professionally"? It makes it sound like he's training to be a professional singer, or something. And is he still studying singing, as the item implies?

Does anyone have a source for this information? As far as his musical training goes, I know he studied piano when he was young, had the vocal training a few years ago, plays just a little bit of guitar, and (currently) has been learning to play the drums for his role as Iggy Pop.Roundthebend 18:03, 12 June 2007 (UTC)

The trivia items, of which this was included, that I edited and was hesitant to let stand, all came from a BLOG I recently saw through Google Alerts. The Wiki editor who added them, cut and pasted it verbatim and that's what caught my attention. There's no source that says he's learning to sing professionally and that probably should be cut (and I will cut it). At first, I thought some references was being made to Elijah's preparations for protraying Iggy Pop (The Passenger), but the melange of data in that BLOG is old, o why would that item be fresh. edwpat

I found the source (which is no source whatsoever). It was a fan article at StudentTimes, who told of her meeting with Elijah at The Oxford Murders set, and then published an old list of stuff under OTHER STUFF. Our over zealous editor posted this verbatim. http://www.studenttimes.org/entertainment/film/wood_inter.html [[user:edwpat}edwpat]]

Thanks, Ed. I suspected something of the sort, because I had seen that blog as well, and the trivia listed was antique at best. They should have come here for their information instead of wherever they got it. :) Roundthebend 21:34, 12 June 2007 (UTC)

I think that Elijah studied music in the past.Jane

[edit] Cigarrettes

I do not see necessity in saying that Elijah smokes cigarettes. Almost all the stars of Hollywood do it. This is irrelevant in my opinion. Jane

I don't think it has much encyclopedic value, either, but it is interesting to note that Josh Hartnett got Wood hooked on clove cigarettes while they starring in The Faculty together. Trivial, but interesting. There is also a ref, so it's properly sourced. María (críticame) 14:39, 18 June 2007 (UTC)
Ok!! :) Jane

[edit] Awards

Is there MoS guidance for the order of awards? If not, I think they should be alphabetised. Anchoress 00:48, 22 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] External Links

The Always and Forever link under external links keeps reappearing even though I've deleted it. Like many fansites, this one displays copyrighted images and videos that do not belong to the webmaster. Therefore, it violates Wikipedia's policy and shouldn't be linked to.

This fansite has been linked since the article began and has been kept and maintained as the primary and ONE allowable fansite. As for the copyrighted images, the other 2 external links also on those grounds are in violation and those sites must be linked in Wikipedia for almost every Film article. We cleaned this article up a year ago where there were a dozen fansites, including my own and it was generally agreed by the editors that Always & Forever would remain as the ONE fansite links for its comprehensive coverage and it Award Winning status (2 years running) at TORN.com. I am very vigilent on the Elijah Wood pages (some 53) and check them 4 times daily for vandalism, inconsistancies and Wikipedia violations, so rest assure I'm not shooting from the hip. [edit] LotR (the book) is not a trilogy

Please see WP:MeS 6.3.

The Lord of the Rings is a story published as three volumes and consists of six books. Please don't confuse this with Peter Jackson's films which are correctly referred to as a trilogy. Thu 12:11, 16 October 2007 (UTC)

The article refers to the FILM - not the Book, and therefore is correctly stated as a Trilogy. I know that it is one story. I'm a Tolkien Scholar. But Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, and the FILM follows the original publishing scheme (after a fashion) as a Trilogy. I will revert back to my changes. Thank you. user:edwpat:edwpat LIJ Patrol visit http://www.dancaster.com/ejw —Preceding unsigned comment added by Edwpat (talkcontribs) 20:06, 16 October 2007 (UTC)

But my edit corrected the reference to the original work as a trilogy not any reference to the series of films.

Peter Jackson's adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien's literary trilogy.

[edit] Height

Does anyone know how tall Elijah is? I have estimated that his height is 156 centimetres (5 feet 1 in British measurements). Can anyone tell if I am correct?

2008-01-19 Lena Synnerholm, Märsta, Sweden.

Hi, Lena. Most sources list him as 5 foot 6 inches (167.6 cm), but I think he's probably closer to 5 foot 5 inches (165.1 cm). I am 5'4" and he is a little bit taller than I am! Roundthebend —Preceding unsigned comment added by Roundthebend (talk • contribs) 03:39, 20 January 2008 (UTC)

Have you ever met him?

2008-02-04 Lena Synnerholm, Märsta, Sweden.

Yes, indeed! About three years ago, I stood next to him and chatted for several minutes. :) Roundthebend —Preceding comment was added at 18:11, 4 February 2008 (UTC)

At a second thought I believe you. I probably underestimated his height. 165 centimetres (5 feet 5) is on the upper border of short men. This explains why I have never perceived him as particularly short.
