Elizabeth railway station is a railway station on the Gawler railway line which is located in the northern Adelaide suburbs of Elizabeth and Edinburgh. It is located 25.8 km by railway from the Adelaide Railway Station. The station opened in 1960 and had the same facilities like that of Cheltenham, Broadmeadows and Womma, but they were demolished in 1998 and has been redeveloped since, in 1999. Passengers access the station by the two low-level crossings, before the redevelopment, an underground pedestrian subway was provided, but this has since been filled in.

Elizabeth station has a long roof between 40-50 metres in length to protect patrons from the weather. There is a staffed ticket office, open only during the morning and around lunch time on weekdays, but it has no public toilets. There is a rail real time information board and an emergency phone on the platform.

Elizabeth is one of the busiest stations in Adelaide. Only one train runs express through the station each day, which is the 5:10pm Gawler train from Adelaide that passes though the station at speed at approximately 5:34pm. There is one non-stop express Adelaide bound train that services the station at 7:45am each weekday, but since April 27, 2008, these services have been cut.

It is a part of the Elizabeth Station Interchange, which also includes the E1, J1, T500, 224, 224, 400, 430, 440, 441, 442, 443, 450, 451 and 900 bus services. This allows passengers to transfer to and from city-bound trains and buses to and from buses which connect Elizabeth to nearby suburbs such as Munno Para and Elizabeth Grove.

[edit] Notes

According to the current and previous timetables, no trains that are Adelaide-bound run express through Elizabeth station, but extra trains that are needed for stations closer to Adelaide (eg Salisbury and Mawson Lakes) may not stop at this station.
