Elizabeth Watts

Elizabeth Watts (born 1979 in Norwich) is an British soprano singer. She is presently best known for representing England at the 2007 Cardiff Singer of the World Competition, reaching the final and winning the prestigious Rosenblatt Song Prize Competition.[1] She also won first prize in the 2006 Kathleen Ferrier Awards.[2]

She studied archaeology at Sheffield University, graduating with first class honours before going on to study at the Royal College of Music with Lilian Watson. She graduated in 2005 with distinction and the Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother Rose Bowl, awarded annually for outstanding achievement and went on to become a member of English National Opera. She made her debut as Papagena in September 2005 and has sung a number of leading roles including Amor in Orpheus and Euridice.
