Professor Elizabeth Triegaardt is a South African ballet dancer. Since 1986 she has been the Director of the UCT School of Dance. From 1997 to 2004 she has been the executive chairman of the Cape Town City Ballet. Since her resignation she has remained the executive director of the company.

Elizabeth Triegaardt matriculated from Hyde Park High School, Johannesburg, South Africa and graduated from the University of Cape Town in 1966 with a BSc, majoring in pure mathematics [1]. She joined CAPAB in 1967 and became a principal dancer, and later ballet mistress, until her retirement in 1990. Since becoming director of the UCT School of Dance, she has introduced contemporary dance and African dance majors, while the degree programme has become the only one recognised in South Africa [2]. She also presents a programme on Fine Music Radio (which is based in Cape Town) every Sunday called Introduction to the Ballet.

She received the Nederburg Prize for her contribution to ballet and her role as the Lilac Fairy in Sleeping Beauty. In 2003, she received an award from the Western Cape Premier, Ebrahim Rasool, for meritorious service to the Arts in the Province.
