Elizabeth Island (Victoria)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Elizabeth Island lies just south of French Island in Western Port Bay (Victoria), separated from it by inter-tidal mudflats and a small channel.

It is a privately owned island, historically used for farming. In recent years, it has been converted into a holiday retreat, with the establishment of housing facilities.

The island bears the remnants of a shipwreck on its western beach, believed to be a tugboat. A previous owner crashed his airplane on French Island attempting to view the Elizabeth island, having recently purchased it in a bar.
