Elizabeth Garrett

Elizabeth Garrett is the Sydney M. Irmas Professor of Public Interest Law, and Vice President for Academic Planning and Budget at the University of Southern California Law School. Garrett is also Director of the USC-Caltech Center for the Study of Law and Politics.

Garrett earned her bachelor of arts in history from University of Oklahoma in 1985, and her law degree from University of Virginia School of Law in 1988. After law school, Garrett clerked for U.S. Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall and for Judge Stephen Williams on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit. Garrett was also Legislative Director and Tax and Budget Counsel to Senator David L. Boren. She was Professor of Law at University of Chicago Law School prior to joining USC in 2003.
