From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Elisabeth Teresa of Lorraine (October 15, 1711 - July 3, 1741) was a Queen Consort of Sardinia.

She was the ninth of eleven children of Leopold, Duke of Lorraine and Élisabeth Charlotte of Orléans, niece of Louis XIV. Her eldest brother became Francis I, Holy Roman Emperor, four years after her death. Maria Theresa of Austria was her sister in law.

She married in 1737 with Charles Emmanuel III of Sardinia, who had been married twice before.

They had three children:

  • Carlo Francesco (December 1 1738 - March 25 1745)
  • Vittoria Margharita (June 22 1740 - July 14 1742)
  • Benedetto Maria (June 21 1741 - January 4 1808), Duke of Chablais.

Elisabeth died at the age of 29, of complications of the birth of her last child.
She was buried in the Cathedral S. Giovanni Battista, and moved in 1786 to the Basilica of Superga in Turin.
