- It is a common female name in Turkey.
- It is a martini (also known as Elif's Holy Berry) sometimes available at Suite 701, the lobby bar of the Hotel Place d'Armes in Old Montreal. It consists of a raspberry mojito without the mint. The drink was named after Elif Özdemir in late 2006. Debate has arisen on whether or not the drink should remain on the list. The Elif has recently felt some stiff competition from the Felix's Apples, a perennial favourite at Suite 701, and the creation of Felix Gutierrez, one the Suite's preferred patrons. To date, the Felix's Apples outsells the Elif by an average of 2 to 1. In a desperate attempt at salvaging her pride and claim to fame, Ms. Özdemir has proposed combining the two drinks. "Felif" has been suggested as a name for the new concoction. The name is catchy, but the drink has yet to catch on. The Elif will inevitably soon be forgotten. The Felix's Apples, on the other hand, is on the fast track to martini immortality.
