Elie Mechantaf (born October 5, 1970) is a basketball player with Sagesse (hekmeh) club. Elie was the captain of the team for more than ten years. And the Lebanon international team Captain for years 2000-2006.

Elie was born in 5 Octobre 1970 in Abra (East Saida). He's the son of Rafiq and Samia Mechantaf. He studied in the South in Saidoun high school then moved to Beirut and later to Italy where he lived a whole year. When he was back to Beirut he studied at CIT then 2 years of BT. Then he joined NDU (Notre Dame University) for 3 months only until he went to Cyprus and studied Business Administration at Inter College and played Basketball.

After Cyprus, he decided to come back to Lebanon and become a player in Sagesse Club in 1993. in 1994 he became the captain. In 1996 he started being popular by the winning of Sagesse, of Lebanese Championship and the PAN-Arabia Club Championship.

He continued with the same club till season 2007, when he went to be captain for Champville Club. But this season (2008), it will be his last season, so he'll be playing with Sagesse.

In 2000, the FLB (federation libanaise de basketball) started the Lebanese international team, and he started as the captain with Rony Seikaly, and Nino as the coach, and other players as Rony Fahed, Ghazy Boustani, Walid Doumiaty, Mousa Mousa, Yasser el Hajj, Vicken Eskedjian, ... etc He played with this international team, in the world cup 2002, in Indiana polis, but for some problems, he couldn't play with the team in 2006 in Japan.
