Eliashim Antivirus, later known as eSafe protect was developed by EliaShim Ltd., and distributed by eSafe Technologies Inc., based in Seattle, WA.
Eliashim and it's companies were bought by Aladdin Knowledge Systems Ltd. in December 1998.
[edit] The Program
Eliashim Antivirus - ViruSafe - felt very different from other antivirus products at the time, required a lot of system resources; actual detection was bad as well, but the program stood out in its look and feel from the others; something other windows antivirus producers have been doing ever since to make their antivirus products more appealing but did not put much time in up to that time.
Strangely, at the time, many DOS versions of antivirus products did have great user interfaces designed.
Eliashim seemed to be the trigger for a lot of "wanna-be" antivirus software to be released, although later versions which where released under the name eSafe Protect did perform great and even got certified; the product has evolved into a relatively good scanner which can surely compete with many others.
eSafe is still being sold under the name "eSafe Antivirus" by Aladdin.
