Elias Keyes

Elias Keyes (April 14, 1758 - July 9, 1844) was a United States Representative from Vermont. He was born in Ashford, Windham County, Connecticut. He attended the common schools and later studied law. He moved to Stockbridge, Vermont in 1785.
Keyes served in the Vermont House of Representatives 1793-1796, 1798-1802, 1818, 1820, and 1823-1825. He was a member of the Governor’s council 1803-1813 and 1815-1817. He was also a member of the state constitutional convention in 1814 and an assistant judge of the Windsor County Court 1803-1814 and judge 1815-1818. He was elected as a Republican to the Seventeenth Congress (March 4, 1821 - March 3, 1823). He died in Stockbridge in 1844 and was buried in Maplewood Cemetery.
