The girl's name Eliana \e-lia-na\ is pronounced e-lee-AH-nah. It is of Hebrew origin, literally translated as "My God has answered me." In Arabic, it is translated as "the Bright". The name may also be related to the Greek "elios" meaning "god of the sun", and the name may thus mean "daughter of the sun". In Latin, Eliana derives from the family name "Aelianus", which corresponds to the Greek word "helios", meaning "sun".
