Elgabry Ricardo Rangel Especiano (born April 3, 1982 in Tuxpan, Nayarit) is a Mexican defender currently playing for UAG Tecos.

[edit] Santos Laguna

Rangel began his career with Santos Laguna. For a year, he would play alongside the deadly trio of legendary striker Jared Borgetti, Chilean playmaker Rodrigo Ruiz, and Argentine-Mexican finisher Vicente Matías Vuoso. Rangel would score his first goal for Santos Laguna after Borgetti had left in the Clausura 2004 season. He score once more before the season ended.

After Vuoso left Santos Laguna in a trade with Club América that brought Francisco Torres to the team for the Apertura 2006 season, Rangel and Ruiz were the only remaining members of the original dominant team that helped win the Interliga back in 2004. He would score a goal against Necaxa, and then again against defending champions Pachuca. However, this was a dismal season for Santos, who did not win a game until Journada 15, and finished with a 1-8-8 record obtaining 11 points, and were staring down relegation.

Clausura 2007 brought hope for Santos, and Rangel would be reunited with Vuoso, but Ruiz would leave in a trade with UAG Tecos that brought Daniel Ludueña to Santos. along with Vuoso and Ludueña came legendary goalie Oswaldo Sanchez and Juan Pablo Rodríguez of Chivas de Guadalajara, and Fernando Ortiz from Argentine club Estudiantes to avoid relegation. In doing so, Santos would make the playoffs, where they would lose to Pachuca in the quarterfinals.

[edit] UAG Tecos

After the season, Rangel was released from Santos. He then signed with Tecos, where he reunited with his other teammate who was dealt earlier that year, Rodrigo Ruiz. They would only be teammates for one season however. After the Apertura 2007 season, Ruiz would be dealt to Veracruz. Three players who were once teammates on a dominant club have now parted ways with other clubs: Vuoso is still with Santos, Ruiz with Primera División A's Veracruz, and Rangel with Tecos, where he currently plays now.
