[edit] Plot summary
The elves are being killed by a disease that only affects their race. Later on in the book, it is discovered to be caused by the breaking of a statue - and the only way to reverse the effects is to repair the statue.
One of the main characters - Ilkar - is stricken with the illness; and The Raven suffer some pretty heavy losses.
