[edit] History

Dawesville was a new electorate created prior to the 1996 election to cope with the rapid population growth around Mandurah. One Nation polled 12.7% in 2001, the swing to Labor after preferences 7.0%. The electorate crosses the Dawesville Cut, dug to create a new ocean outlet for the Peel Inlet and Harvey estuary, successfully dealing with persistent algal bloom problems.

The previous and inaugural Member for Dawesville was Arthur Marshall.
