Elburz Range forest steppe
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Located in the Northern part of Iran and north of the capital Tehran, the Elburz or Alborz mountain range is the highest mountain range in the Middle East. This tall mountain range captures the moisture of the Caspian Sea to the north, and has formed a tropical rainforest in north Iran.
The Iranians call this forest and region, SHOMAL, which means NORTH in Persian.
