Elath

Elath (Hebrew: אֵילַת; Tiberian: ʼÊlạṯ; Standard: Elat) is an ancient city in the Hebrew Bible on the northern tip of the Gulf of Aqaba. It was in the same vicinity as Eloth and Eziongeber.

  • Historically, the city of Aqaba, Jordan has been associated with the ancient site.
  • The modern city of Eilat, Israel is adjacent to Aqaba and named after the ancient Elath.
