[edit] About me now
I am currently a PhD student at Loughborough University, in the East Midlands, UK, as well as a Hazard and Risk Engineer at Advantica. My research involves creating a tool which will allow the simulative analysis of reliability with a combination of Maintenance Free Operating Periods and Phased Missions. The simulation tool uses Petri nets to provide this. Hopefully I shall be finished by the end of 2007 2008. This is debatable, as I do spent a rather inordinate amount of time flitting between this and the BBC News website.
I am engaged to be married. My fiancée, Christabel, lives in Chessington, Surrey and has an online internet business.
[edit] About me before
My upbringing is pretty much your standard male, middle-class, white upbringing. I am a Christian, and although I prefer not to give myself a denomination of this ('not Catholic or evangelical', generally), I currently go to a Church of England church.
I was brought up in Rossendale, Lancashire, and went to school at a mixed Grammar School in Waterfoot (Bacup and Rawtenstall Grammar School). I got my GCSEs, four A-levels and one AS-level before going to university in Loughborough to do a degree in Mathematical Engineering. I got a first-class honours in this and, having no particular clue what I was going to do afterwards, decided to do a PhD.
