In Mexico during the XVIIth century, the beautiful and aristocratic Leonor of Santiago is engaged to marry the gentleman Don Eduardo de Carbajal. But when an Inquisition representative arrives to Mexico, Leonor's parents fear that the supernatural powers she possesses could attract his attention, so they advise her to conceal them. Desperate to prevent the announcement of their engagement, Lucrecia Trevino, who also loves Eduardo accuses Leonor of witchcraft. Leonor, stung by the accusation, causes a chandelier to fall down and injure others, under the watch of the Inquisitor. Eduardo, outraged at the accusation, tries to stop the guards from taking her and he is taken along with her. Both die in the bonfire swearing eternal love to one another. 300 years later, Diana Salazar finds a pendant that once belonged to Leonor, which grants her Leonor's powers. When she accidentally provokes her father's death, Diana turns for help to Irene del Conde, a psychiatrist with interest in the parapsychology. Under hypnosis, Diana begins to remember past facts that make her suppose that she is the reincarnation of Leonor.
