El Camino High School serves students 16 year olds and over who prefer or need an alternative to the comprehensive high school setting. Most students arrive with credit deficiencies and transfer to El Camino throughout the school year. About 50-60 students graduate each year, with another 20 to 30 returning to Rancho Cotate High School to graduate with their own class. About a dozen students complete their secondary education each year by passing the California High School Proficiency Examination or the G.E.D. Test.
