The EL class are an Australian diesel electric locomotive originally ordered by Australian National in 1990 and built by Goninan. Appearing visually similar to the AN class design, these locomotives haul freight trains over Australia. After the formation of the National Rail Corporation the class were put into storage, until sold to Chicago Freight Car Leasing Australia, who lease them to many other private operators. EL59 was scrapped after an accident.
