Attacks on United Nations personnel during the 2006 Israel-Lebanon conflict

The use of this image in articles relating to attacks on the UN, the patrol base at El-Khiam, the United Nations in Lebanon, or the destruction of the base itself in August 2006 is asserted to be a fair use of the image, when it contributes significantly in a way that cannot be easily be replaced by a textual description. Moreover no public domain or free-license image is known to be available to replace it as a representation of the destruction of the base.

The image was taken at the base in Lebanon following its destruction, and is intended to represent the condition of the base after being shelled repeatedly and then hit with an IDF missile. It is published and intended for wide distribution. The UN allows "editorial" use of such images.

The commercial value of such an image is negligible.
