El-Ahly versus El-Zamalek Derby

The biggest football rivalry in Africa and the Middle East, between Egyptian Giants El-Ahly and El Zamalek. Ahly and Zamalek were named by the Confederation of African Football "CAF" as The 1st and 2nd African Clubs of the 20th Century respectively. Both teams are located in Greater Cairo and their matches are considered the highlight of the football season with live broadcast to most of the Arab countries since the seventies.

As of April 2008, there had been 126 competitive meetings between the two teams. El-Ahly won 51 times and El Zamalek won 33 times. The biggest win for El Zamalek was 6-0 in the 1942/43 Egyptian Cup final, while the biggest for El-Ahly was 6-1 in their 2001/02 2nd leg league meeting.
