Ekow Quartey (born July 12, 1990) is a British film actor, best known for playing the extra character "Bem" in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, listed in the credits as "Boy 1". Many were confused about his identity, for he sits at the Gryffindor table at breakfast (when reading about Sirius Black in the Daily Prophet), and is also in Harry's Divination and Defense Against the Dark Arts classes, yet he is not in the third year boys Gryffindor dorm. Avid Harry Potter fans wondered why he had so many lines, more in fact, than some of the named characters. Before his acting career, Ekow attended St. George's RC primary school, and then attended Dulwich College secondary school. He currently attends Leeds University studying Theatre and Performance where his best friend Akin Olagbaiye also attends.

He has reached some popularity as an internet fad.

Ekow Quartey also appears in 'Barely Legal', a comedy sketch show on BBC Three featuring Dominique Moore

It's like trying to catch smoke... it's like trying to catch smoke with your bare hands - on catching Sirius Black, from the film Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.
