Ekenäs Castle
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Ekenäs Castle is a castle located in Linköping Municipality, Östergötland, Sweden. It was built in the 1600s on top of a fortress foundation from the 1300s. The lake surrounding the castle created a natural defense; however, this was drained in the late 1800s to create more arable land in the area.
It is, and has always been, a privately owned castle. Visitors are welcome year-round, however, the castle itself is only open during the summer. A jousting tournament and Medieval festival has been held in May/June every year since 1993. More information and photos about the "Riddarspel" can be found at http://www.rileytoorn.com/ekenas/
