[edit] Orphaned non-free media (Image:PlanetHollywoodLogo.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:PlanetHollywoodLogo.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot (talk) 20:53, 15 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Paris

Paris serves as the Holodoctor's main nurse for several years. Lots42 (talk) 03:36, 16 December 2007 (UTC)

While Lots42 is correct, I believe that Category:Fictional nurses is designed for actual nurses, not improvised ones. To wit, Tom Paris acted as the de facto nurse/medic for Voyager, but was not an actual "certified" nurse, as I believe this category is intended. (Also, wasn't Kes termed "nurse" and Paris referred to as a "medic"?) For the purposes of Wikipedia, I endorse Ejfetters' removal of that category as it was misleading at best. [edit] Trek

I understand both sides. I went through a brief time where I was anti-tag-my-articles, until someone explained to me that the tags were not a sign of a bad article, but were designed to attract other editors to help fix them. Once I got that down, I actually started tagging more articles myself more too! Anyway, I know you had the best of intentions and hope we can work on some article improvements in the near future. Take a look at Starfleet ranks and insignia (and I did merge Captain (Star Trek) into it). I think the format is far better now, but still has a long way to go. Best of luck to you in the future! VigilancePrime (talk) 07:07, 16 December 2007 (UTC)

Hi, you proposed merging the List of DS9 characters into the main list of Star Trek characters. However, you didn't set up a discussion section for this on the talk page, and no discussion has taken place about it. I propose to boldly rename the list as List of minor recurring characters in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and remove all who are (i) major or (ii) not recurring. (Following the AFD for Mallora, I'd then make a similarly-titled list for ST:Enterprise.) However, I don't feel I should do that while your merge proposal remains on the page. Even though you plainly got tired of this stuff last week, I'd value your comments. - Fayenatic (talk) 20:45, 19 December 2007 (UTC)

I'd keep the alphabetic lists covering the whole franchise, because in my view these are (i) clearly best for crossover characters, and (ii) sufficient for minor characters who are non-recurring (or recurring but still not very significant). I'm proposing complementary lists for each series which allow an infobox for each minor recurring character and fuller information on their significance in plots. So... no, I'm not ready to go with your grand idea, which would be a lot of work; who knows, maybe I'll come round to see your point of view as I continue the work. At least we agree on my proposal, so I'll get going.
I'd also like to suggest we use redirects for navigating from articles to lists. For instance, Brunt is linked in articles to List of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine characters#Brunt, but he's not there any more. If all the articles linked to Brunt (Star Trek), then that redirect could easily be updated to whichever list had the fullest info on the character. If, for instance, the four alphabetic lists get split up later in any other way - whether by series, as you suggest, or into smaller lists - it would be much easier to update all links using a single redirect. This could be publicised on WikiProject Star Trek, but where else could we advise it where it might be seen? - Fayenatic (talk) 11:54, 21 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] AfD nomination of List of recent automobile models by type

An editor has nominated List of recent automobile models by type, an article on which you have worked or that you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of recent automobile models by type and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 13:14, 5 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] RE: Image:MonteCarlofire.jpg_listed_for_deletion

Yeppers, go right ahead and delete it. I uploaded that on the day of the blaze, not knowing just how large or small of a story this was going to turn out to be (the fire was still spreading when I zapped it into the article). As it turns out, it wasn't such a major fire after all, and as such, I doubt whether the article section dealing with the event actually needs a picture. If a suitable replacement image cannot be placed, no big loss. Edit Centric (talk) 06:26, 29 January 2008 (UTC)
