Whoopsie! I didn't mean to revert your edits to the article Cahnite. I did it as I was looking through the edits that were added to the article that I wrote when I accidentally clicked the rollback button :). Hope you can forgive me. Cheers, Razorflame 23:44, 24 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] No, It's not a sock

I am being totally honest here. The user you mentioned on SimpsonsFan08's talk page is not my (SF08) sock. I also saw a user called Grandoldman has been confirmed as my sock, he is not. I apolgise for socking and my socks are (a lot):

  • SimsFan
  • Connorjack (my first account)
  • MrWP (i'm sorry)
  • DalekChicken (clean start, but can be blocked)
  • Doughnuts...Mmm!

I have decided to be totally honest. If there is a sock I have not mentioned, just tell me and i'll say. If i have forgot any, i'm sorry. 92.5.91.181 (talk) 17:12, 25 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] No... Those accounts aren't mine

These account are not mine. I have come clean, but these aren't mine. Block these if you want. I cannot explain this, it is just a coincidence. If there is any other questions, just contact me. SimpsonsFan08 talk 17:35, 25 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] They Aren't

Those accounts aren't mine. Honestly, they aren't. I am being totally honest here. I know it is like that post, but really, block them. I've came clear with all my accounts. But these are not. Can a check user not confirm we are different IP's or something, and check the location? SimpsonsFan08 talk 17:44, 25 May 2008 (UTC) Just contact me if there is anything else.

I am trying my best to have a clean start. I have came clear with all my other accounts, why not them (if they were mine). Maybe you should contact those users to discuss this matter? SimpsonsFan08 talk 17:47, 25 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] No, Not Mine

I would submit a checkuser request, but it would be unacceptable. I said, if you suspect them to be sockpuppets, block them. Please see i'm trying to have a clean start here. Maybe we should get another user's advice. SimpsonsFan08 talk 17:51, 25 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Not Active

Both those accounts aren't active anyway, as (grand old man's) edit was 20 days ago. SimpsonsFan08 talk 17:53, 25 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Thanks

If you see any edits, its not me. Thank you for letting it go. SimpsonsFan08 talk 18:02, 25 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Badié

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Badié, and it appears to be very similar to another wikipedia page: Bagassi. It is possible that you have accidentally duplicated contents, or made an error while creating the page— you might want to look at the pages and see if that is the case.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot (talk) 11:52, 26 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Kongoba

What is the criteria to distinguish between village, town and cities in these articles? Otolemur crassicaudatus (talk) 17:23, 26 May 2008 (UTC)

Oh I've edit conflicted with Blofeld; what he says below is the same as I've been using.

1000 should be the divider.

[edit] Burkina Faso

Hi there! As you may have noticed I created all of the template at Wikipedia:WikiProject Burkina Faso/Provincial templates and would warmly welcome people adding the missing articles as much as possiblr. Most of the templates still need the villages writing into it. If you want to evade Coren, you'll have to be white listed. Ask User:Coren or somebody who has dealt with this before. ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 17:25, 26 May 2008 (UTC)

Yes 1000 is a standard. ALthough obviously the majority of Africa can't be compared to developed countries in Europe where a town of 10,000 in Burkina Faso may be more like a village than a settlement of 300 in france or something. But 1000 is a general cut off point. Yes basically the villages can be copied from the department articles I created and pasted into the templates to produce complete coverage by province. Eventually I plan to do this for the whole world, and am currently looking into getting several bots, and bots which can create templates to become a reality. Best regards ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 17:35, 26 May 2008 (UTC)

Dabbing yes has to be done by hand. The directory page we created is Wikipedia:WikiProject Missing encyclopedic articles/Places -feel free to help go through them and dab them properly but let either Fritz or myself know what you are doing or have done. Eventually everywhere will be drawn up but they will need dabbing properly. Eventually I'm aiming to have an article on every world location on a google map and have a template on every district of the world connecting articles on places/landmarks within them together. So eventually I'm hoping for a full set up directory templates like Burkina Faso for every country of the world. ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 17:44, 26 May 2008 (UTC)

Sources tell me there are about 9000 towns and villages in Burkina, If you plan on adding more I think we should think about reorganizing by region with categories ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 18:06, 26 May 2008 (UTC)

I'd suggest splitting into 13 sub categories roganized by region. ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 18:07, 26 May 2008 (UTC)

I'll create the sub cats in a minute but the r should be capitalized for Region. Actually I have long had a suspicion that some of the departments in certain provinces are out of date and are actually been incorporated into the provinces that maplandia suggest, so if anything maplandia is likely to be correct with the current situation. I've noticed several overlapping betwene the diagrams and what is listed as of 2005. I'll ask one or editors to look into it later ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 18:23, 26 May 2008 (UTC)

Yes that can be off putting when there is some confusion over a few of them. Where possilbe I try to copy the settlements listed under a district from maplandia and base it around that. I created the sub categories at Category:Cities, towns and villages in Burkina Faso. If you aren't going to be adding any more settlements could you help recateogrize them by region? Thanks ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 18:43, 26 May 2008 (UTC)

If you can't find what region the province is in just check french wikipedia. The provincial articles themsevels are shockingly undeveloped. They have nothing even on what region they are in population etc, they don't even have the proper department links. When the settlements are recategorized I would strongly suggest we sort out the province articles. Add an infobox to put the maps in and correct the links. Sound good? It doesn't have to all be done tonight but this is a priority I think ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 19:11, 26 May 2008 (UTC)

Yes once that it is done.. I have formatted Balé with a tidy infobox and some details and added the full links to its departments. Wrongly the rest of the province articles read as "communes" which is politically incorrect as the Burkinabe goverment appear ot name them "departments" . So the tables will need changing. It may also be a good idea to list some of the main towns within the provinces too. If you could copy this format for the others this would be great. Thanks ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 19:31, 26 May 2008 (UTC)

My god its really time priorities started changing on this site. I;ve lost count of how many important geo articles are stubs without any info or references on here but have half decent articles with references on the other wikipedias suchas french, german and dutch. This site seems to suffer the consequences and in turn gets full articles on fictional characters and crappy bands or cartoons when articles on major cities in over half the countries on here are two line stubs without any info. Why does it seem like there are only a handful of editors actually doing anything towards geography on here....? ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 19:58, 26 May 2008 (UTC)

I know, the worrying thing is that there are equally developed articles on series or characters which most people have never heard of. Yes once those provinces are sorted out I think the existing settlements on Burkina need checking. MOst of the infoboxes were devoid of the regions, provinces and departments they are in and population figures. See Léo, Burkina Faso. I have added the standard and also boosted the map size to 300 which I believe gives fuller more detailed view of the country. That infobox could also be used as a guideline for how the articles should be looking ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 20:41, 26 May 2008 (UTC)

Yes exactly like you did to Bagassi but boost the maps to 300 also ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 20:44, 26 May 2008 (UTC)

Yes I'll see about that.. But if you create anymore make a note... Thanks for your help see ya tomorrow ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 21:06, 26 May 2008 (UTC) Finally, another person, that is willing to work on actually important stuff--the geography and cultures of real people and real places that are WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY underdeveloped! Myself and that bald guy have been working so hard on developing african geography instead of your favorite book or TV show but now we have a 3rd guy in the picture. Consider yourself among the enlightened, Master EJF, and soon we shall reach an african version of nirvana. I'm an Editorofthewiki[citation needed] 23:47, 26 May 2008 (UTC) You are correct... that's what happens when you add the names of all the regions to the articles in one day. I think I'm the one who needs a wikibreak... I'm an Editorofthewiki[citation needed] 10:50, 27 May 2008 (UTC)

Hi. Yes remember I said that before that some of the department images looked out of date. If you can update anything using 2006 info this would be great. Of course the province pages still need sorting too with the infoboxes etc ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 15:52, 28 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Life of Brian

  • Please explain why Wikipedia articles concerning a particular date and month always begin with the month and follow with the date then, eg. today - May 29. I was not insulting anyone's English at all; as an Irish person wishing to use this method on the article about the leader of my own country surely I am perfectly within my rights? And that was not a violation; it is a well-known fact (straight from the horse's mouth at that) that our Taoiseach experimented with marijuana in previous years. I notice how you've only been using Wikipedia since March 2007; I have been editing for much longer. Thank you. --86.45.215.243 (talk) 18:47, 29 May 2008 (UTC)

I'm giving you this. {{Template:Trout}}

  • With regard to your use of British English I should point out that Ireland (or the Republic of at least) has not been a part of the British Empire for the past 86 years and questions could be raised as to what extent it played its part in the Empire even before that. Try this for size.

And yes:

  • Biographies of living persons (BLPs) must be written conservatively, with regard for the subject's privacy. - That is not mere speculation, it was openly admitted to by the man himself.
  • Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a tabloid; it is not our job to be sensationalist, or to be the primary vehicle for the spread of titillating claims about people's lives. There was nothing remotely "sensationalist" or "titillating" about the way that it was written. It was formal; there were no italics, exclamation marks or anything that could have put its neutrality under threat.
  • An important rule of thumb when writing biographical material about living persons is "do no harm". No harm can be done to someone who has admitted to such a thing and is duly allowed to be promoted to Taoiseach without national uproar. More damage has been done to him by his recent outburst of swearing in the Dáil than could be done by an encyclopaedic article of any sort, least of all Wikipedia. There was no mockery intended and no obvious mockery cited. The statement was perfectly referenced.

As for Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons#Well-known public figures, the examples given clearly illustrate my point.

Example

"John Doe had a messy divorce from Jane Doe." Is it important to the article, and has it been published by third-party reliable sources? If not, leave it out.

I used neutral language, not declaring that this experimentation had messed him up. The article was published by a third-party reliable source and has been cited by many more such sources since.

Example

A politician is alleged to have had an affair. He denies it, but the New York Times publishes the allegations, and there is a public scandal. The allegation may belong in the biography, citing the New York Times as the source.

This incident may belong in the article? Yet it is an allegation. If this can then surely something that has been confirmed and never denied should be included? --86.45.215.243 (talk) 19:09, 29 May 2008 (UTC)

  • PS: The trout is not a "monstrosity". Trout are fascinating creatures, often taken advantage of by humans. --86.45.215.243 (talk) 19:11, 29 May 2008 (UTC)
    • I have no time for wikilawyers - you are also gaming 3RR. Do you really believe that "Brian Cowen is a former marijuana smoker notable for being the current Taoiseach of Ireland" is neutral and unbiased? Think on. EJF (talk) 19:28, 29 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Not sure this was a good removal

The comment you removed had been there about a full day.. nobody else apparently considered it a personal attack that needed to be removed. It's strong criticism, sure, and it may even be factually incorrect or otherwise way off base. But this doesn't make it a personal attack. I think you're way better off leaving it there and explaining why it's wrong than simply removing it. Friday (talk) 20:14, 29 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Bot approved: dabbing help needed

Hi there. Fritz bot has been approved at Wikipedia:Bots/Requests for approval/FritzpollBot for filling in a possible 1.8 million articles on settlements across the world. Now dabbing needs to be done for links which aren't sorted as the bot will bypass any blue links. and I need as many people as possible to help me with Wikipedia:WikiProject Missing encyclopedic articles/Places to prepare for the bot. If you could tackle a page or two everything counts as it will be hard to do it alone. Thankyou ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 12:03, 30 May 2008 (UTC)

No its only the blue links that need to be checked. Once you finish a province leave a Y Done at the top to everybody knows what has been done, Cheers ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 12:26, 30 May 2008 (UTC)

Page 2 isn't completed yet though. ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 13:16, 30 May 2008 (UTC)

If there is only one place in the country with than name it would be ...., Afghanistan. If there are names in various provinces then yes it would be e.g [...., Ghor] or [...., Ghazni]. ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 13:57, 30 May 2008 (UTC)

I really appreciate your help. Thanks friend ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 16:27, 30 May 2008 (UTC)

Oops! Sorry, I'll start on page 4 to avoid any edit conflicts then ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 17:24, 30 May 2008 (UTC)

Super I nearly completed page 4 earlier. I got abit through Wardak and came across tons of places with the same name -Cambodia will be a nightmare!! Page 4 is nearly done ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 20:48, 30 May 2008 (UTC)

Afghanistan Y Done. Only the few on the problems page. The irony thing was that one of the last places I did was actually called Dab!!! Tomorrow I want to empty Category:Cities, towns and villages in Afghanistan by province (best thing is to check categories like Category:Badakhshan Province etc and relocate them. like we did with Burkina and then make a start on Bangladesh. Tomorrow I'll create the categories for Bangladesh ready too ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 21:26, 30 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] H2O RFA

I saw you just changed your vote because you now consider the process an immoral farce. Before you changed your vote, your last comment was directed to me. I understand that my initial response to your point about canvassing was aggressive, but I thought that we had resolved the misunderstanding. I sincerely hope nothing I wrote was responsible for your changing your vote. Slrubenstein | Talk 18:31, 1 June 2008 (UTC)

No, no, absolutely not. You were not to blame at all. As far as I'm concerned that situation was resolved amicably, and I apologise for any misunderstanding there. I am however somewhat fed up with the many accusations and counter-accusations made at the RfA but most of all the behaviour of the nominator, which makes me feel very uneasy. Regards, EJF (talk) 18:44, 1 June 2008 (UTC)

Well, I owe you an apology too but I am glad that it is all sorted out as you say, amicably. I have not followed the behavior of the nominator closely, but obviously you care about the process ... you might want to give the nominator some constructive advice. [edit] Re: Bot

I was wondering when someone would take me to task about that. After encountering 3 edit conflicts in a row -- which meant I almost lost everything I had spent almost an hour writing twice -- I lost my patience. However, there is something pathologically wrong with a discussion when anyone needs to resort to such a tactic. If this is the only way anyone can be heard on Wikipedia any more, maybe I ought to give up on it. I apologize for the inconvenience. -- llywrch (talk) 20:01, 1 June 2008 (UTC)

Gestiès. 10 people. Speedy? ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 18:59, 2 June 2008 (UTC)

I know believe me I'd rather we just went ahead. Where we differ I think is that we think new stubs with an infobox on locations and a map is an actual step forward whereas other think the eneyclopedia is better off for not recogniozing them. I guarantee the articles could all be expanded eventually, the problem though is accessing the information and indeed the time to do so. There aren't really that many editors like us who care about other countries and would be willing to expand them so even if we manange to develop thousands, many more would be left. It sucks I know that many people choose to only focus on Anglo-Centric articles but whoever said life was fair. Given the scale of this project if eahc person but just a few minutes of time into each one created we'd be rocking. But they won't and the encyclopedia will continue to grow unevenly. ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 19:24, 2 June 2008 (UTC)

If we are to make 1000 a cut off point, the best thing we can do I think is to create lists of these places by district/province in the mainspace of villages and have information in tables and the wiki min atlases globes in the tables and create redirects. At least this way the wikipedia would recognize every place but would be contained in a table until more info could be found to start them. At least the tables then would convey some info on them until there is enough to create full article. I know its a little like winning bronze but at least wikipedia would recognize 2 million places and have some osr tof reference on their locations or basic statistics. Kind of like List of United Kingdom locations: Aa-Ak for every country. Just a thought ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 19:33, 2 June 2008 (UTC)

Hello. Some more Burkina work now? They can't tag our articles for having population figures then!! ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 12:59, 3 June 2008 (UTC)

Well I know, I hope it can work itself out. Firts I think I'll start an article on Child labor in Mali having found some sources. WOuld be a good idea starting an African series on it as from an economical and sociological viewpoint it is very important in Africa. I'll join you afteerwards. On second thoughts the data is 20-30 years out of date. Best leave that ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 13:08, 3 June 2008 (UTC)

Hello yet again. I regretfully inform you that the bot we were using to update the user status at Wikipedia:Highly Active Users, SoxBot V, was blocked for its constant updating. With this bot out of operation, a patch is in the works. Until that patch is reviewed and accepted by the developers, some options have been presented to use as workarounds: 1) Qui monobook (not available in Internet Explorer); 2) User:Hersfold/StatusTemplate; 3) Manually updating User:StatusBot/Status/USERNAME; or 4) Not worry about it and wait for the patch to go through, which hopefully won't take long. If you have another method, you can use that, too. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me. Useight (talk) 22:21, 3 June 2008 (UTC)

I've bought a 450 page book on Burkina Faso!! Bradt guides to Niger, Sudan, Benin, Ghana and Gabon are also available. See if you can buy one of the books off ebay or something buy it now and we can start contrubting some useful to the stubs or start a few. If you and Editor of the wiki bought one of the books each from a different we'd be able to do stuff!! I;m going to see if I can get the one on Benin but am pretty strapped for cash! ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 17:10, 4 June 2008 (UTC)

Yes Niger would be an excellent choice given its size. Probably the poorest covered country on wiki is Guinea or Liberia something like that. But Niger or SUdan would be excellent, probably Niger would be good. I;ll try to get the Benin one too, hopefully Editor can get hold of one of Gabon/Sao Tome or Ghana. Hey I just started Media and telecommunications in Seychelles, I've got a book on the Seychelles! ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 18:23, 4 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] SSP in Radio Wikipedia

Would you like to record this? 1 Min Max. Or you could ask xenocidic, or I will do it? StewieGriffin! • Talk 21:24, 5 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] SSP

Hi, I forgot to mention SSP in RADIO WIKIPEDIA. To remind me tomorrow, could you leave a message on my talk page. I'll then get reminded tomorrow. I am ashamed of my past, so it will also show I am now trying to stop this. Would you like to record it? StewieGriffin! • Talk Sign 21:39, 6 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Rollback for you alternate account

Yeah, go on then. I'll grant it. Tough call though ........ :) .... Pedro :  Chat  20:30, 7 June 2008 (UTC)

Ha ha, as long as you have no problem giving rollback to an SPA :) Just found out that I have to wait until I'm autoconfirmed before I can use any automated tools, so it's going to be a sleeper sock for now ;-) Cheers, EJF (huggle) (talk) 20:38, 7 June 2008 (UTC)
User:SockOfPedro got rollback with 1 edit If I recall, so precedent is there. Legitimate and declared socks of admins and well established editors who already have rollback should just be given the tool IMHO. Pedro :  Chat  20:40, 7 June 2008 (UTC)
Now that was rouge... just kidding, I've seen that sort of thing before. Oops, just realised I need to do 10 edits as well as 4 days service, off to do some old-school patrolling (for the first time since I joined...) EJF (huggle) (talk) 20:48, 7 June 2008 (UTC)
If I was feeling sarcastic, I'd say that as your alternate account just has to make 10 edits, even ones without value, then there's another venue here for them as well..... :) Pedro :  Chat  20:54, 7 June 2008 (UTC)
Ah, the forum that is a bottomless pit for endless, rambling discussion and proposals that never reach consensus :-) Proposing a new colour for the tally box could pull me closer to being autoconfirmed ... ;-) On a more worrying note, it's impossible to do manual recent changes patrol anymore; everytime I click rollback it says "rollback failed" and shows an edit summary from a Huggler, almost a sort of catch-22... EJF (huggle) (talk) 21:05, 7 June 2008 (UTC)
Really? That's interesting. I still do RC patrol, and although obviously I use rollback I've never used Twinkle, Huggle etc. I only got rollback with +sysop of course - until then it was UNDO (and before then it was totally manual!). However I don't tend to get edit conflicts or rollback denials, but then I tend to edit from 07:00 UTC which is often a graveyard shift in WP world! Pedro :  Chat  21:22, 7 June 2008 (UTC)
It might just be my slow connection though, less than 1mbps (I live in countryside, and the nearest exchange isn't exactly hi-tech) I only did it manual on my first week or two doing vandal patrol, then I succumbed to the evil Twinkle. Ha, I'm only getting up when you start, the odd time I was editing around 04:00 UTC, virtually no patrolling - just a few bored Aussie kids! It really cranks up about 16:00 UTC when the Americans begin to arrive... EJF (huggle) (talk) 21:35, 7 June 2008 (UTC)
Oh and congrats on the Godfathership (is that a word?) EJF (huggle) (talk) 21:37, 7 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Burkina

Hi I hope you are still interested! I've done Template:Banwa today. We still need as many as possible!! ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 15:43, 11 June 2008 (UTC)

I know I have serious hayfever problems every June. I hate it too ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 15:58, 11 June 2008 (UTC)

If there ar eplaces in the same district you can but the coordinates in brackets in the title. Should be fine! ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 16:37, 11 June 2008 (UTC)

Hi I'd avoid using the VI thing though, Is there anyway you could fixed those links to cinlude the coordinates instead and then hide them in the nav box using pop ups? ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 18:15, 11 June 2008 (UTC)

Yes I;d leave them out until they can be sorted. It wouldn't be good to create 10 or so articles with V1 V2 etc. People will think it is an article on a new sports car!!! Just kidding you're doing great. What I would do is take the V1 type doubles out of the nav box and list them at Wikipedia:WikiProject Burkina Faso/Problematic place names and we can discuss it later. ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 18:20, 11 June 2008 (UTC)

Great work so far betwene us we must have created several hundred articles today. I'll see if I can get you white listed so your new articles are automatically patrolled like mine. I think you more than qualify. ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 21:55, 11 June 2008 (UTC)

Have a look here. It has detailed books on some of the countries most lacking on here, they look great books. Obviously I wouldn't buy them striught from the site but have a look on ebay where they are half price. There are some quite obscure countries with guides that you dodn't usually see. ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 10:06, 12 June 2008 (UTC)

No it hasn't arrived yet, payment s still going through as I don't have any funds in my paypal account just yet, I used to be a quite a big seller on ebay and will resume once June is over!! I'm looking into the Benin one and have my eye on a £5 Laos lonely planet guide, the coverage of countries like Benin, Liberia and Guinea on wikipedia is absolutely diabolical. Sudan and Niger would be excellent choices as they are amongst the largest African countries and a lot could be written about them. I long for the day when specialist books become avilabale on provinces within such countries and we can make writing articles for these stubs a reality. ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 10:17, 12 June 2008 (UTC)

Indeed, good job. Between the three of us and the pace the bot will be going I think we can beat the bot on Burkina! [off to work on the Kongoussi Department! I'm an Editorofthewiki[citation needed] 10:34, 12 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Toéssin

Why you said this article may be tagged by Coren search bot? Otolemur crassicaudatus (talk) 10:43, 12 June 2008 (UTC)

It tagged one or two previous articles. Mainly because the infobox material is by and large the same; the only information that is different is population and coordinates. Seemingly mentioning CorenSearchBot in the edit summary seems to stop it tagging, Blofeld says there is a whitelist so that the bot ignores certain editors, I'm not sure if there are any specific requirements to join the list? Regards, EJF (talk) 10:46, 12 June 2008 (UTC)
Seems to be true - I didn't mention CorenSearchBot in the edit summary for the article below and it got me. EJF (talk) 10:48, 12 June 2008 (UTC)
I am just wondering that you have recently created so many articles but Corenbot did not chase you. Check the history of my talk page, you will see the difference. How did you get rid of this bot? Otolemur crassicaudatus (talk) 13:15, 12 June 2008 (UTC)
Editorofthewiki seems to have added me to this: User:CorenSearchBot/allies. Perhaps you should add yourself, I don't think admin approval is needed. You can do that or mention "CorenSearchBot" in your edit summary; but I think it would be OK to add yourself to that list; you are making quite a lot of articles! Regards, EJF (talk) 13:19, 12 June 2008 (UTC)

See this also. It isn't anything to do with Coren it is a list by JV bot. I'll look into it now for you ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 13:44, 12 June 2008 (UTC)

I've been drawing up a full list of official statistical sites by country at List of national and international statistical services. Then this can be copied to the new project. Sound good? What I also want is to create an extra column in the project space for the email addresses of these countries and sites so we can request a brochure of population statistics and other data that they have on a personal. I believe as the project is set up we need to email each of the countries to maximise our chances of obtaining the data ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 13:37, 12 June 2008 (UTC)

Congratualtions on completing that region!! What we are doing is working through Wikipedia:WikiProject Burkina Faso/Provincial templates in alpha order and marking them as complete as we go. I've also requested that they sort out the new stub categories too ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 15:48, 12 June 2008 (UTC)

I'll join you later and try to tag some of the articles in the talk pages. Keep up the good work! ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 15:57, 12 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] My RFB

Thank you for your comments in my RFB. Since it was only at 64%, it was a shoo-in to be unsuccessful, so I withdrew. I didn't want it to run until its scheduled close time because my intent in standing for RFB was to help the bureaucrats with their workload, not give them one more RfX to close. Through the course of my RFB, I received some very valuable feedback, some of it was contradictary, but other points were well agreed upon. I have ceased my admin coaching for now to give me time to revamp my method. I don't want to give up coaching completely, but I'm going to find a different angle from which to approach it. As for my RFA Standards, I am going to do some deep intraspection. I wrote those standards six months ago and I will slowly retool them. This will take some time for me to really dig down and express what I want in an admin candidate. If, after some serious time of deep thought, I don't find anything to change in them, I'll leave them the way they are. I'm not going to change them just because of some community disagreement as to what they should be. Will I stand for RFB again in the future? I don't know. Perhaps some time down the road, when my tenure as an administrator is greater than one year, if there is a pressing need for more active bureaucrats, maybe. If there no pressing need, then maybe not. Useight (talk) 03:02, 13 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Burkina Faso

Hello! I have been doing New Pages Patrol and I saw your articles on Burkina Faso. I just wanted to take a moment to commend you on bringing this part of Africa to the Wikipedia pages. Thanks for the great work! --Ecoleetage (talk) 13:10, 13 June 2008 (UTC)

Thank you for your kind words! A lot of the credit has to go to User:Blofeld of SPECTRE and User:Editorofthewiki also; we are working to create articles for all of the towns and villages in Burkina Faso to help in the effort to make this the most complete gazetteer in the world. Regards, EJF (talk) 13:13, 13 June 2008 (UTC)
Oh, that is wonderful teamwork. My commendation goes to all three of you! I would volunteer to help you, but I am on holiday at the moment and my Net time is limited. I am home after Sunday and will have more time then, so feel free to call on me if you require additional help after that date. Cheers! --Ecoleetage (talk) 13:18, 13 June 2008 (UTC)
Thanks, we are working at filling in templates at Wikipedia:WikiProject Burkina Faso/Provincial templates, and then adding the articles using the Burkina census (linked to in the articles) If you have any free time after your holiday it would be fantastic to have any help you can give! Cheers, EJF (talk) 13:30, 13 June 2008 (UTC)
Fine, let us reconnect after I am back from holiday. Cheers! Ecoleetage (talk) 13:41, 13 June 2008 (UTC)
