Eisenschmitt is a town in the in the state of Rhineland-Palatinate in the western part of Germany. There are about 330 inhabitants. In 1372 it was mentioned the first time as "Yssensmyt uff der Salmen".
The city’s name derives from Iron ore (German=Eisen) which was exploited nearby some hundred years ago and treated by blacksmiths (German=schmied).
