Eimskip is an Icelandic sea transportation company founded in 1914.
Eimskip was acquired by The Avion Group (now Eimskipafélag Íslands) from Björgólfur Thor Björgólfsson in 2005. Eimskip is Iceland's largest shipping company. [1]
Eimskip accuired VersaCold's Income Fund in May 2007 for USD $525Million[2]
Eimskip USA began to operate out of the Port of Richmond in Richmond, Virginia in November 2006 with vessels to Reykjavík. Prior to that, they had been operating out of Newport News and Philadelphia for their port of call. [3] [4]
