Eileen Maxson

Eileen Maxson (b. 1980, New York) is a video and installation artist based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Maxson studied at the University of Houston graduating with a BFA in Photo/Digital Media in 2002. She received her MFA from Carnegie Mellon University in May 2008.
Maxson's works have screened at venues such as the New York Underground Film Festival and Portland Documentary and Experimental Film Festivals, Ocularis in Brooklyn, and Cinematexas International Film Festival among others. She is also the first recipient of the Arthouse Texas Prize.

In 2005 Maxson was named as a finalist for the inaugural Texas Prize, a $30,000 art prize established by the Austin, Texas non-profit Arthouse[1] and the largest art prize in the region at the time. Maxson was awarded the prize in a ceremony presided over by former Texas Governor Ann Richards. [2]
In 2006 Maxson was called "...a transmedia Cindy Sherman for the MySpace generation..." by New York Village Voice media critic Ed Halter.[3] Halter had previously named her to a "sweet 16" list of experimental film and video, 2003.[4]
