Eidsborg stave church

Eidsborg stave church (Eidsborg stavkirke) is a stave church was built in the middle of the 13th century in Lårdal, Norway. Many legends comes from this church, one of them is that the church was supposed to be built by "stronger powers"! The church is today one of the best preserved stave church, but has been partly reconstructed in the 19th century. The reconstruction work did however not affect the structure and the shape of the church. Painted figures and ornaments from the renaissance were uncovered during the 1927 restoration.

The church is dedicated to the traveler’s patron, St. Nicholas of Bari.
