- EIDE (Enhanced IDE) is an interface between a computer's hard disk and motherboard
Eide is a municipality in the county of Møre og Romsdal, Norway.
The municipality was separated from Kvernes January 1, 1897.
The town is known for its traditional and modern limestone (marble) quarries and related crafts industry. The Atlanterhavsvegen coastal road goes here.
[edit] The name
The municipality (originally the parish) is named after the farm Eide (Old Norse Eið), since the first church was built there (in 1869). The name is identical with the word eið n 'isthmus, neck of land'.
[edit] Coat-of-arms
The coat-of-arms is from modern times (1982). It shows three swimming swans (Cygnus cygnus), which are plentiful in the municipality.
