The Surreal Scoop is a news satire website devoted to reporting the "News of the world as it should be, perhaps before it happens". It is also affectionately referred to as "The Bellower"[citation needed].

The "world as it should be" is populated by the world that we know, but often the cited experts all appear to be from the same clan called Billingsworth (or similar ethnic variation). They are scattered across the globe and it is thus unclear if they are all related, or indeed know of each other.

Surreal Scoop started life in the autumn of 2006, under the name of 'The World as it should be' to try and provide British flavoured parody news, as compared with sites such as The Onion which focus on satirising US life.

In the spring of 2007 a complilation book was launched entitled "The World of the Billingsworths - Volume I".

In the summer of 2007 the site was moved to it's own domain www.surrealscoop.com and rebranded as Surreal Scoop.

Surreal Scoop has broken several important news stories, such as the discovery of the first big-boned skeleton[1], the death and replacement by a double of Heather Mills-McCartney[2]. Other recent news has been the backmasked messages in a papal address [3] as well as the uncovering of a handbook for women[4].

"The Bellower" also provided coverage of the recent worldwide protests by creationists following a sermon by Pastor Jesse Billingsworth[5].

One of the most controversial is Professor J. Scott Billingsworth, a psychologist who has served at least one prison sentence for actual bodily harm and assault. Unafraid to dabble in other branches of science, Professor Billingsworth managed ot create and lose in his laboratory the world's first cloaking causing him to unveil to the press what transpired to be an empty glass case.[6]
