[edit] Re

Hmm...I don't think any actual accusations have been made. I was merely expressing my concern that strange behaviour has been occurring on that page. I would not make a direct accusation without Checkuser evidence. It is not against the rules to have a sockpuppet. It is only against the rules to use them for vote stacking or to give the impression that consensus has been achieved when it has not. Regarding the IP, is it a static address or dynamic? Are they vandalising the article or are they only making comments on the talk page that you do not agree with? Can you please provide a link? Sorry, but I haven't had time to go through the edit history. Thanks. Sarah Ewart (Talk) 06:20, 8 July 2006 (UTC)

Firstly, you more or less did accuse me over at Crestville's userpage. Secondly the IP is static (195.93.21.66). They are also posting defamatory uncited comments which according to Wikipedia policies is not allowed - "Unsourced or poorly sourced negative material about living persons should not be posted to articles or talk pages. If you find any, please remove it immediately.". To see examples of his comments all one has to do is just browse the page however here are some of the examples. [1] (You'll notice he makes a personal attack at me - calling me a closet homosexual), [2], [3], [4]. As I said, I'm only trying to assit in the editing process of this site. I have so far made no changes to the Michael Jackson page because I would discuss anything before I went ahead and did so. As for my troubles signing comments, I'm going back and signing the few that I have forgotten, however please take into consideration that I am fairly new to the discussion pages and forgot a few times early on. :: ehmjay 14:53, 8 July 2006 (UTC)
Update - I've gone and added my signature to the 4 previously unsigned comments. Also, I would point you in the direction of [5] and look at the final comment. It certainly is out of line (although yes I realize that this is a different page, and different rules since brando is no longer living but there must be some rule against these sorts of comments) :: ehmjay 15:21, 8 July 2006 (UTC)

If you didn't indulge him in his silly little arguments he would probably be less of a problem.--Crestville 20:46, 9 July 2006 (UTC)

This is true, and perhaps I should stop thinking that he will stop...but the fact is he has gotten out of hand, he is now putting personal attacks against me, and is still vandelizing the page and has to be stopped! --:: ehmjay 21:13, 9 July 2006 (UTC)
If you genuinely believe he is making personal attacks against you, please report the matter here: Wikipedia:Personal attack intervention noticeboard. Sarah Ewart (Talk) 11:08, 10 July 2006 (UTC)
I guess it could be a matter of opinon - but does calling someone a dumb faggot constitute as personal attacks? (you'll have to go into the history to see the comment as someone removed it) :: ehmjay 13:53, 10 July 2006 (UTC)
If that is what he said, then I agree it is a personal attack and you should list it on WP:PAIN. I noticed he is posting from an AOL IP. AOL IPs are notoriously hard to block. Sarah Ewart (Talk) 13:58, 10 July 2006 (UTC)
Sarah, I noticed on the WP:PAIN that I have to give a warning like an NPA2 or something. How do I go about doing so? :: ehmjay 14:00, 10 July 2006 (UTC)
Copy and paste this template onto his talk page (and sign it): {{subst:npa2}}. Sarah Ewart (Talk) 14:07, 10 July 2006 (UTC)
Or if you prefer someone else to do it, give me some diffs of the attacks and (if I agree they are personal attacks) I will do it for you. Sarah Ewart (Talk) 14:09, 10 July 2006 (UTC)
What exactly do you mean by Diffs? lol. I'm still new to the whole editing of wikipedia process. :: ehmjay 14:26, 10 July 2006 (UTC)
The diffs are the previous versions of the page. If you click on the history tab of a page you'll see links (hist) and (diff). The diffs are the changes made to the page. You will be able to find the personal attacks by clicking on the diffs made by that IP as everything is still in the history even though it may no longer be on the actual page. You will also need to have diffs for listing an attack at WP:PAIN. Sarah Ewart (Talk) 14:49, 10 July 2006 (UTC)

Okay so here are the ones where they are direct shots at me: [6] [7] [8] and here are just a few where he's taking shots a people in general: [9] [10] --:: ehmjay 15:47, 10 July 2006 (UTC)

Done: User_talk:195.93.21.66#Personal_Attacks. Sarah Ewart (Talk) 16:02, 10 July 2006 (UTC)
Thank you sarah. This has become so frusterating as this person has not only been attacking me, he's been going through discusion pages and removing my posts and just posting defamatory comments about the articles in question. He must be stopped and its nice to know action is finally being taken. :: ehmjay 16:27, 10 July 2006 (UTC)
My suggestion is that you do not reply to him or engage him in any way at all. The talk page is for discussing the article, not for expressing personal opinions about the subject and various editors. If he contines to make such comments, revert them without reply. Sarah Ewart (Talk) 03:00, 11 July 2006 (UTC)
is there an easy way to do reverts rather than copying and pasting? :: ehmjay 04:21, 11 July 2006 (UTC)
Yes. Click on the history tab for the article. Then click on the date of the version you wish to revert to. This will open up an earlier version of the page. Then click on the "edit" tab at the top of the page. Type in the edit summary then click save. You will see a warning that you are reverting to an earlier version and edits will be lost. This is fine. Sarah Ewart (Talk) 04:58, 11 July 2006 (UTC)

See my note on MJ page. Contact me if you need help. Please provide diffs (ask if you're not sure how to). Tyrenius 03:52, 13 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Re: Sidebar on Userpage

All that "sidebar info" is a collection of userboxes. I got most of mine from other user pages and stole them from there by going to the edit this page tab. 2 of them, I figured out how to make them on my own. There is a basic way to design them described here. If you decide to get this creative, you will probably have to look into Web colors. It will probably also take much experimentation in the sandbox. In the end though, it's totally worth it eh? So go for it! --Reaper X 18:04, 8 July 2006 (UTC)

I've blocked that personal attack person for 4 days. Blnguyen | rant-line 03:27, 13 July 2006 (UTC)
Thanks. :: ehmjay 03:28, 13 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Diffs

Yep. History, then click last. You will see that person's edit on the right, and (relevant portions of) the previous edit on the left. Go to the URL at the top of the browser, copy it and paste it with square bracket either end:

It produces this result:

[11]

which is the diff of your last MJ talk edit. Lists of diffs are sometimes given (each URL must be individually enclosed in a bracket).

If you want to link text, leave a space after the URL, insert text to be linked, then put the square bracket:

[http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Talk:Michael_Jackson&diff=63533607&oldid=63531540 Ehmjay's last diff].

It produces this result:

Ehmjay's last diff

Awsome! Thanks Tyrenius! :: ehmjay 04:34, 13 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] MJ moderation

Thanks. It's up to you to take advantage of it now. In particular, resist any temptation to give opinions or even things you know to be true - unless you also supply verification. If the policies are followed, there wouldn't be all these problems. I suggest also trying to find something of worth in differing viewpoints, or a way in which they can be accommodated. You might find a thorough read of Anna Svidersky talk page helpful in this respect, and also a striking contrast with the MJ one. Tyrenius 14:52, 13 July 2006 (UTC)

Awsome, thanks Tyrenius. :) Hopefuly the problems will be fewer, at least until the banned user returns. :: ehmjay 15:57, 13 July 2006 (UTC)
Ehmjay, I really think you need to stop replying to those IPs as they seem to deliberately try to wind you up. Sarah Ewart (Talk) 00:16, 14 July 2006 (UTC)
That's what I'm going to try to do from now on. It's just so frusterating to stand back and watch people dish it out and post bald-face lies. From now on however I'm just going to revert. :: ehmjay 00:21, 14 July 2006 (UTC)

Re. your question, you can't revert an earlier comment and leave an intervening one. You just have to edit and delete. However, please note that talk should not usually be deleted, and there is not universal agreement that even somewhat insulting material should be deleted. For one thing, deletion prevents other users and admins from being able to make a proper assessment of what's been going on. Please also note that the talk page is not the article. There's far too much emphasis on getting the talk page right and not the article. If you stick to researching material, providing verification and putting it in the article, then the truth wins. Remember to AGF. What you think is a lie, someone else might think is right. If someone puts forward a point, I suggest you work with them and ask for verification, so that it can be included in the article. You have to make sure to maintain NPOV. Tyrenius 00:32, 14 July 2006 (UTC)

Awsome, thank you for clearing that up Tyrenius. :: ehmjay 02:14, 14 July 2006 (UTC)
Ehmjay, you might link to try popups, but please only use it for reverting edits according to policy (I don't want to see you get blocked for reverting stuff just cos you don't like it). Sarah Ewart (Talk) 06:22, 16 July 2006 (UTC)
Thanks Sarah, that's so much easier! :: ehmjay 17:17, 17 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] re: M. Jackson discog reformat

More than the discography needed to be fixed on that article. It more or less needs a thorough rewrite from a good, objective writer; whether it will get such remains to be seen. By the way, I fixed the discography (correcting the formatting and adding the conspicuously missing Motown studio LPs) myself. --FuriousFreddy 00:02, 19 July 2006 (UTC)

Yes, the article definatly needs some work. I'm sure the missing Motown Studio LPs are missing because many people do not consider them to be true Jackson albums (which they are). :: ehmjay 03:17, 19 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Discussion in MJ talkpage

Hello, can you please review the discussion all the way at the end of the talkpage? Your input there would be much appreciated regarding the inclusion of the comment in question. Thank you so much!UberCryxic 00:20, 17 August 2006 (UTC)

Hey again, I've started a vote about whether to include the statement in the lead, the body, or not include it at all. Your opinion would be appreciated!UberCryxic 16:50, 18 August 2006 (UTC)

That's fine. Mistakes happen.UberCryxic 21:24, 22 August 2006 (UTC)

I feel like the user is being disruptive, hence my opposition to his or her plans. We came to a rational conclusion, and now the user reverts on will because he or she disagrees with it. That is inappropriate.UberCryxic 02:59, 7 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] MJ

Please delete all such comments on sight. I can't indef block as it's an AOL IP. Tyrenius 07:28, 29 August 2006 (UTC)

If vandalism is in progress, report immediately to WP:AIV. If not, then just delete comments and mark edit summary as "delete vandalism". Tyrenius 00:20, 2 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] License tagging for Image:Rebel Lion.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Rebel Lion.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 00:07, 6 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] New straw poll

Hey, I'm hoping to get a new straw poll going on this King of Pop issue in about a week. Right now I've opened the floor for discussion on what this new straw poll should decide. I'd very much appreciate it if you could leave your thoughts and suggestions at the "Moving forward" subsection towards the bottom. Thank you.UberCryxic 17:07, 18 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] A suggestion

Hello, I am thinking about starting a wikiproject on Michael Jackson. Right now I haven't done anything officially, but I was just wondering if you would be interested in joining. If so, let me know on my talk page and I will inform you when and where to go to express your support. Once there appears to be a notable level of willingness from the community (5 to 10 people), then we can go ahead and build the wikiproject itself. Thank you.UberCryxic 15:46, 16 May 2007 (UTC)

A wikiproject is essentially a collection of individuals interested in a particular topic that get together in forming a loose organization to update and improve articles related to that topic. I'm glad you're interested. Go here and add your name in the participants section. Thank you so much!UberCryxic 23:31, 16 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Dannythedog.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Dannythedog.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. [edit] hi , thrilller 25

hey your edit is unsourced, i havent removed it but would you get it sourced asap. You will find anything unsourced is removed very quickly on thriller 25. out of respect i have left it there for you to add to. Realist2 (talk) 20:19, 12 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] thriller 25

Hey ,you said you wanted Thriller 25 a merged article from Thriller (album). Just wondering, have you re-considered since then, now it's out? It's just we're trying to get a consensus going on the talk page. It'd be nice for you to either contribute to debate, or state if your opinion has changed. Consider how much both the articles have changed since your last imput as they have both seen changes. Realist2 (talk) 17:47, 29 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] HET

Hey, as you are a member of the Michael Jackson wikiproject I have some very important news for you. I will be nominating the Michael Jackson article for FA shortly and the Thriller album article is currently on the nomination list for GA. We need your help with both articles....

The Michael Jackson artice is currently on a peer review (which you can see on the articles talk page). It also really needs its references formatted correctly.

The Thriller album is going to be reviewed in the next couple of DAYS its sources need formatting.

These are the most important articles on michael jackson here at wiki, 2008 has been an excellent year for michael jackson, lets make it a good year for him here at wikipedia too. If these articles get a GA or FA statues it could make news outside of the wiki world. What a great way to celebrate the 25th year of MJ being the KING OF POP.

Please help with the sources of both these articles and in any other way you can. If you know any other people at wiki that might want to get involved let them know. Realist2 (talk) 22:28, 4 April 2008 (UTC)
