[edit] Controversy?
I've noticed quite a few sites and people stating that the show is a "joke," citing that it's not really "hip hop," that is, it's sole purpose is for entertainment, rather than trying to find a good white rapper. You can check out what SoHH had to say about it in that link. I bring this up because I want to know if it is noteworthy, at least, as of right now. ♣ Klptyzm Chat wit me § Contributions ♣ 21:00, 18 January 2007 (UTC)
- I'd like to reopen this discussion; it needs to be clarified whether or not creating such a section in the article would be considered original research or not. ♣ Klptyzm Chat wit' me § Contributions ♣ 01:09, 25 March 2007 (UTC)

- If you have a source, then it's probably worth a mention. I couldn't find much about that on the site you linked though. LeinadSpoon 03:04, 27 March 2007 (UTC)

- This one links to all, if not most, of the parent site's articles critiquing the show. This link details the last episode. I will, of course, go find more. In the meantime, please give me feedback on whether or not this is credible-enough info for article inclusion. ♣ Klptyzm Chat wit' me § Contributions ♣ 03:19, 27 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] why is the formatting of ego trip's name so important to everyone?
It seems that several editors have differing opinions about how the name of the show should be displayed. Some editors insist that "ego trip" be inserted as part of the title, while others insist on removing it from the title of the show. Some other people are concerned about the capitalization of "ego trip". I do not have any opinions either way, but we should agree on a standard, or explain that these differences are synonomous, or just stop un-doing and re-doing others' edits. This seems like a silly think to be redoing and reverting. --Trentjohnson 16:18, 27 January 2007 (UTC)
- On VH1, the title is read "The (White) Rapper Show," with the exclusion of "ego trip's." As far as capitalization is concerned, "ego trip" does not have capitalization, officially, and it should be in the article as such. ♣ Klptyzm Chat wit me § Contributions ♣ 23:33, 27 January 2007 (UTC)
As an official member of ego trip we'd like to say thank you for updating and adding to this wikipedia entry. Also as an official member of ego trip, let's set the record straight... For easy reference, it's alright if the show is listed in Wikipedia as "The (White) Rapper Show," but it should be noted somewhere that official title is "ego trip's The (White) Rapper Show" (in the vein of "Monty Python's Life of Brian" or "National Lampoon's Animal House").
And yes, "ego trip" is indeed lower case.
- Well, regardless of if you really are from ego trip or not, I'll correct the title anyways. ♣ Klptyzm Chat wit me § Contributions ♣ 18:12, 30 January 2007 (UTC)
Shouldnt there be a list of all the guest people MC Serch brought in
- That would be rather unnecessary. ♣ Klptyzm Chat wit' me § Contributions ♣ 22:52, 2 May 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Summaries
I just wanted to say thanks to the people fixing up the episode summaries I write. I wrote two, plan to write more as needed, and I write them as I watch the show, so they aren't always that great. In fact, they're pretty bad. I figure they're a starting point for someone with a little bit of energy left. User:Lorettagrace
- It's cool. It's good that someone is doing it. I've been focusing on other articles, as of late, but I'll try to be one of those that will "correct" your summaries; I did the first Episode list, so I give, at least, a little of a "crap" about this article. ♣ Klptyzm Chat wit me § Contributions ♣ 23:14, 30 January 2007 (UTC)
- ditto to Lorettagrace. I did a pretty sloppy job of episode 4, but most of the facts were all there.--Trentjohnson 02:55, 31 January 2007 (UTC)
How about a little cleanup format-wise? Any suggestions? The Real World: Denver has a nice format for their summaries. I think bullet-points would work well for this show. 49erInOregon 16:26, 31 January 2007 (UTC)
- In my opinion, that's not totally necessary. As long as the summaries are written in a grammatically correct fashion, they will be fine. ♣ Klptyzm Chat wit' me § Contributions ♣ 17:51, 31 January 2007 (UTC)
- I was thinking when the show progresses more into later episodes this page will become longer and longer. The article to me is about the show... not about each episode. If we don't summarize the recaps more then maybe a seperate article for episodes would be good. 49erInOregon 18:08, 31 January 2007 (UTC)
I'm going to Singapore. Can someone elsle do the summary for the rest of the shows? Trentjohnson 04:26, 6 February 2007 (UTC)
The summaries need to be cut down big time. Maybe we should do something like:
[edit] Episode 3
A word best used to describe OJ," is skipped, because Jon Boy guesses "innocent," while $hamrock guesses "nutritious," stating that that's all he could think of.
I am changing "innocent" to "guilty". I have the episode recorded and he says "guilty". This isn't vandalism. It's what he really said. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Spizzywik (talk • contribs) 06:03, 8 February 2007 (UTC).
- It's "innocent." Perhaps you should check that recording again, because, oddly enough, that recording is apparently wrong. ♣ Klptyzm Chat wit' me § Contributions ♣ 06:35, 8 February 2007 (UTC)
I just wanted to let you know that you were right. This evening I watched the tape again and he does indeed say 'innocent'. I feel like a jerk and wanted you to know that I'm sorry. Spizzywik 04:02, 9 February 2007 (UTC)

- It's ok. We all mess up sometimes, including me. Don't fret over it. ♣ Klptyzm Chat wit' me § Contributions ♣ 04:46, 9 February 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Episode 5
The rappers were to record their own track and make their own video. They worked in teams of 3. Losers of the challenge had to write a 16 line verse explaining the faults of the other 2 people on their team.
Winners of Challenge - $hamrock, Persia, Jusrhyme
Winner of Rap-Off (Or whatever it is called) - John Brown
Out - Sullee (Voluntarily Quit), Jonboy
It should be something like that. I don't watch the show that much, but this is definitely a lot better than the huge summary. Tinkleheimer 22:18, 6 February 2007 (UTC)
I agree. This is easily readable and lets people know what happened. At the very least, what exists needs to be edited severly for grammar, NPOV and jumping tenses regularly. LeinadSpoon 04:28, 27 February 2007 (UTC)
- I feel that the page should stay as it is, but that it just needs to be shortened to major things that happened in the episode; either that or make a separate "list of episodes" article. ♣ Klptyzm Chat wit' me § Contributions ♣ 14:44, 27 February 2007 (UTC)
- I agree they need to be shortened as well... although maybe put a tad bit more about the challenges and such. Summaries shouldn't be more then a paragraph. 49erInOregon 15:44, 27 February 2007 (UTC)
- I think that even more than being shortened, they need work on NPOV. For example:
-
- While John Brown had superior lyrics to the "been-done-before" $hamrock, he appeared nervouse. Also, current Hip Hop isn't about lyricism - it's all about a hot song
- This sentence needs to be rewritten to specify that that's what some of the judges thought, not a statement about modern Hi=Hop. LeinadSpoon 06:44, 28 February 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Spoiled before the last episode even premiered
Ok I understand having spoilers but the one saying $hamrock is the winner befor the last episode of the season even premiered. That is just plain vandalism and you can tell the person who edited it was taking sides because he didn't even spell "episode" with the E capitalized like the others.
[edit] Unconstructive edits
Because Santiago38 won't listen to reason on his/her own talk page, I've decided to post it here: stop making these edits to the article. I've already told you why these edits don't belong and you keep adding them. Stop NOW. ♣ Klptyzm Chat wit' me § Contributions ♣ 06:42, 30 December 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Title
Why is the word "white" in a parenthesis? 122.3.107.84 (talk) 23:08, 14 February 2008 (UTC)
- That's how the title is officially presented. ♣ Klptyzm Chat wit' me § Contributions ♣ 02:02, 15 February 2008 (UTC)
