EGO Magazine

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

EGO Magazine is an online magazine geared towards the Desi (South Asian) diaspora. It publishes articles on issues dealing with culture, fashion, design, travel & entertainment. It also has sections that deal with economic & political issues and translations of Urdu and Hindi poetry. A highly popular online magazine, it is read by over 35,000 regular readers a month from over 55 countries and is particularly popular in the United States, Canada, Britain and Australia. As one of the first mainstream South Asian magazines to have a Queer section, EGO also targets the Desi queer community and challenges the traditional animosity towards the queer community in South Asian society. EGO is also the first South Asian magazine to start a section called Diaspora(s) which views and engages with other diasporas in the world, embracing the idea of a South Asian reader as a cosmopolitan individual who celebrates and critiques all cultures.

EGO was started in 2004 by Ayesha Khanna and is headquartered in Manhattan, New York
