Efua Dorkenoo

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Efua Dorkenoo is a Ghanaian campaigner against female genital cutting. She was one of the founders of FORWARD - The Foundation for Women's Health, Research and Development. It began with a wider women's health agenda, but later concentrated on Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) (as they deem it) because of the opportunity the organisation gave for pushing the issue in the West. She is perhaps best known for writing Cutting the Rose – Female genital mutilation: the practice and its prevention
