EF86
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
EF86 is miniature high gain, low mu, pentode vacuum tube. It has 9 pins and connects to a B9A base.
EF86 were introduced in the late 50's and were produced by Phillips, Mullard, Telefunken, GEC among others. An industrial variant of the tube is known as 6267. In the former Soviet Union a variant was also produced as type 6Zh32P (Russian: 6Ж32П.) Currently EF86 are being produced in Russia in two versions under Electro-Harmonix brand and in the Slovak Republic under JJ Electronics brand name (former Tesla).
The main disadvantage of these tubes is their high microphonics tendency - this being especially a problem in instrument amplifiers.
Although the EF86 has 9 pins like the ECC83 or EL84, they are not interchangeable.
